Bush pilot :DLOL, I've had a few intresting landings off the beaten path, for sure. That plane got a lot of mods in the years I had it. The paint started out as a joke and ended up a reality. It was a heck of a lot of fun to fly and work on.
Mark Knopfler, now there is a guitar player. If I've got the story right, he's one of the few people (Maybe the only one) Chet Atkins ever approached about doing some recording with. That's a great honor.
GB, Good luck with your new endevor. Glad you got all the red tape out of the way and are on the road to being a licensed gun dealer/smith.
I have been slicking up 92's for about five years now...seems most people are either not mechanically inclined or are afraid of taking one apart...once you do it it comes easy. All of my main SASS battale rifles are 92's and with the exception of the one my wife uses are all in .45 Colt.
Speaking of .45's yeeehaaaaaawwwwwwwww my two new sequencially numbered New Model Vaquero Bisleys arrived today. I will use them at our monthly shoot on Sat. and let you know how they do. I have been waiting for 8 months for these babies to get here.
I ain't afraid of takin mine apart,i'm afraid of puttin it back together :-[ And i ain't got no smithy anywhere close to me..Sure would like to slick it up some too.

My best friend had a 48' Chevy. It was built like a tank. I'd swear the fenders were made out of cast iron.LOL, I had a '41 Plymouth Business Coupe about the same time as the Porsche. I drove it when the Porsche was in the shop. It had those cast iron fenders, too. A lady ran into me in a bank parking lot. Darn near took her bumper off and my right front fender only had a very tiny mark about an inch across. The dent in the left fender must have taken a heck of a hit, it was there when I got the car.

When I was in college I had a friend with a '41 Plymouth business coupe. Had a semi-automatic transmission that you had to shift but you didn't have to use the clutch except to put it in reverse. Best deer hunting car I ever saw. Low gear would let you drive up a waterfall if you weren't in a big hurry. Top speed couldn't have been much above 60.Mine had the standard 3 on the tree. Great car. Yep, 1st was quite low. The speedometer needle was green up to 25mph then turned yellow between 25mph and 45mph. Above that it turned red. I recall getting some 70 or better out of it. LOL, that was enough. :o The window winders were 1 1/2 turns to full up or down. I could beat anyone wanting to do window races. ;D
Johnny, that is really neat. I love old tools and trying to figure out exactly how to use them.
Thought you guys might get a kick out of one of my small collections. These are all Scharde Scrimshaw knifes with the sheaths.
Where'd you find them cool little puppies at? Don't remember ever seeing any like that with beaded sheaths.Too Cool GB :)
Look what I found!
Cleaning out the closet in my shop I came accrss a box I forgot I had. Full of rolled posters.
Years ago I built frames for them and sold them at Cowboy events around the country, didn't know I had any left let alone this many!

Making your own arrows and recurve bow is cool stuff,i have read a little about it and seen a friend make arrows.Having a hybred wolf is something i always wanted,From what i know they are very loyal,at least the one another friend had was.Everytime i went to his house that wofl dog would come up to me and stay by me and play with me and wanted to go home with me.My buddy at the time didn't take care of him like he should have,i told him to give him to me but he wouldn't,couple of weeks later he moved out of state.I knew he wouldn't take care of him..
Hey Ten Wolves, can you make your arrows do that robin hood sound?THHHHHHHHHWIIIZZZZZIIIIIP ! ->----------->What did you make your bow from?Got any pics of it..I ain't much good at makin stuff from scratch.
Thanks for listening, didn't mean to be so windyVery well worth reading. I love that snake story. Thanks.
Howdy TW,
Awesome Bow and awesome stories!! I's really cool to have still something you made almost fifty years ago along with those great memories. You do have a real knack for telling stories.
I have a vague memory of watching a movie well over fifty years ago called Tembo. As I recall it featured Howard Hill hunting an Elephant with a bow and arrow. Does anyone remember something this?
Now, I have something for you. You guys are causing me to check all my hiding places for things I haven't seen in a long time.
Remember, now. If you get one, (a) make a holster and (b) post pics. ;D
Yeah, that's a Kimber CDP, 4". Can't use it for SASS, but for everything else, outstanding. I've never had any problems with mags, feeding, or anything. If I was going to do it again, I'd buy the same thing. For SASS, I'd get another one of the Springfield Mil-Specs, which I'll do one of these days. Colt makes a beautiful replica of the WW1 1911 which I drool over now and then. http://www.coltsmfg.com/products-c5-q50-COLT_PISTOLS.aspx (http://www.coltsmfg.com/products-c5-q50-COLT_PISTOLS.aspx)
the 1911 almost seems to have a Cult following, and it's been around for what seems forever, this will be my first, so I'm enjoying the hunt.I went for years wondering why anyone would want one of those slab-sided things. Then I shot one. ;D
Nice spread there, Chip. Thanks for the pic. Here's the link to the Alumagrips page. http://www.alumagrips.com/ (http://www.alumagrips.com/)

Roland:
Sorry, not for RANGE. You need to subscribe and see what we use and then send us what RANGE needs most. Great ranch stories. Good news.
You can call 1-800-RANGE-4-U (725-4348), M-F, 8-5 Pacific time and get a 5 for $20 deal (instead of 4 for $19.95)! We take VISA or MasterCard. Or you can subscribe on line at www.rangemagazine.com.
Thanks for your interest in RANGE.
cj
Thanks for getting back to me, CJ. I appreciate it. Just curious, but can you clarify the reason why it's not for RANGE? If I read this correctly, it's due to the fact it is poetry, and not reported editorial. Would that be correct?
I'll admit it's been a couples years since I received RANGE, but I could have sworn you had published some poetry in there.
No. It was nice, but your cowboy language got a bit annoying and it's similar to a lot of poetry I receive from hundreds of cowboy poets who should know I seldom use poetry. Also, I have no staff working on editorial, your e-mail took a long time to read, it is 4 p.m. Sunday and I haven't many more to go, and you do not have enough respect for the publication to even subscribe.
Please note that I only publish quarterly and might use one or two poems a year. Also, each page in RANGE costs me $2,000 and there are many stories fighting for space on each page. You need to read RANGE. You need to offer what the editor needs, not what you want to share. If I got your $20, and about 10,000 more from poets like you, I could run more pages and use more poetry. Or a poet could pay $2,000 for a single page in RANGE and call it an advertisement (which actually costs $3,550 for a full page)!
cj
Thank you for clarifying that for me CJ. Sorry this submission caught you in such an inopportune moment, as you appear to be having such a pretty rough stretch. I know how it can be in the publishing industry. I'm the art director for Wildfowl and Gun Dog magazines, and recently had Petersen's Hunting thrown in the mix when we had an art director quit. All my editors have quite the juggling act going on, and typically have only one shared associate editor with which to share the load on submissions, letters, product reviews, etc. I know the stress they deal with, and deal with alot of it myself ("it" all rolls downhill, right?) Those books combined run readership into the 4 million mark and they manage to keep the whole ball of wax rolling somehow to keep those folks happy. When you compare that to what you have to deal with, obviously with a much smaller staff, and a pretty tough field of coverage, well, my Bailey is off to you, sir. Well done.
Take care, and keep up the good fight. As soon as my next subscribed publication comes up for renewal (as an art director, I have several -- makes for a nice idea file), I'll let it lapse and send in the twenty for your book. Probably be 2011, as I re-up them for 24 months at a shot, and just renewed my last one in September.
Take care, and I sincerely hope you have a better day tomorrow.
I could not believe it!! No adjusting was needed ;D ;D I must be doing something right.Nice work, pard. I love that rifle. If it took a year to finish, the time was well spent. Gorgeous.
I hope that you all enjoyed.
WBC, to keep it short, dig a hole, burn your wood till you have plenty of coals, wrap the bird or whatever you are cooking in about 7 or 8 layers of tin foil, remove the coals from the hole and put the turkey in, put the coals back over the bird and be sure to get it covered well, keep a small fire going on top and in about 4 hours you will have an almost perfect bird done to a tee. I use a set of old tire chains to set the bird in the hole and lift it out when it is done. What size turkey was that? Did you stuff it? I want to try that. Let's see, rule one: don't do it in the middle of the lawn, rule two: make sure it's far enough from dry grass and low branches.
;D Marshal, I forgot that you live in a state that likes to burn down on a regular basis so yea rule one and two for sure :o ;) It was a 10 lb bird and you can stuff or not to your own liking. Just remember to get your hole deep enough to have about 8 in. of coals over the top of the bird and keep a steady but not to big fire going on top all the way thru. Works best with good hard wood like Oak so that you have plenty of good hot coals. :)
Nice shootin iron Dave, you made a good trade.
GB, It looks like you had a great time!!! I used to ride my ATV a lot, but not anymore. I bet that turkey was good they way you all cook it!!
RT, I havn't read any of your poem's, is there a place I can go read????
I went out today and shot the 1867 Remington rolling block that I built this summer. I had a friend of mine that called me and ask if I would go out to the range and help him site in his deer rifle, he is a good friend so i told him I would meet him out there. He had 60 miles to drive and I knew he would be late (he is allways late) so I loaded up the Rolling Block and headed out to the range.
I got the gate unlocked and set my shooting gear on the bench, set up some tagets and got the Rolling block out and put some lead down the range :) :), I could not believe it!! No adjusting was needed ;D ;D I must be doing something right.
I hope that you all enjoyed.
Now see? That's what a rolling block is supposed to look like. Great job, Ace.

Howdy Dave,
Nice looking Great Western, it appears to be one of the earlier models, do you know how old it is, either way, it a nice find, you use see a lot of the 44 special's offered years ago. know you will have to get some gun leather for it, unless you already have some.
tEN wOLVES ;) :D ;D
TW, I don,t think we ever actually had a minute per pound rule. We did a 10lb about three times and found about 4 hrs to be the best. Did one 15 pounder and cooked it for 6 hrs and it came out real good. So 2 hrs per 5 lbs seems to be about right.
We did one 8 lb bird, the first one, and for some reason we decided on 5 hours. It was still edible but the top was burnt. Thats when we decied we had to much fire on top and a little to long on the cooking time. Course my Pard Sam says if ya never burnt somethin then ya never cooked. ;) ;D
TW, I don't know if you can call our methods sound :o it was sort of trail and error til we got the hang of it. Trying to err on the side of well done but still edible :-[ ;) ;D
Gun Butcher, that's pretty much on line , I usually go about 25 min a pound at 325 degrees so your method works out to be the same thing, as long as you get a 165 degree reading in the thigh, you're safe , and the meat won't be over cooked, one of these Holidays when one of my neighbors is gone ill dig a whole in there front yard and give this a try, of course ill share some of the turkey with them, that's the least I can do. ;D ;D ;D :D ;D

Hey, if ya'll don't mind, our Art Director for Guns & Ammo, Micheal Ulrich and his wife and family could sure use some serious prayers. His wife is ill, and she's not doing very well at all. We've all stepped in at work to pick up his load so he can go take care of the truly important things in his family's life, and I think any prayers you guys can throw a kite up on would be appreciated and certainly helpful.
Howdy Rick.
You wife gave you a pretty nifty Christmas present. Also beautiful engraving on your rifle!
Howdy Curley,
I sure like your Yellowboy and your Jessie Rig. They really go together.
Howdy KT,
Here's a picture of the Geezer with his Christmas presents. I drive a Harley Electra-Glide Classic and when I sold Harley's, my younger customers called my bike a "Geezer Glide". Heck, I'm actually proud to be called a Geezer.
You Da Man Johnny! I figure after hitting 60, and having made through the 60's, being called a Geezer is not the worst thing in life!
Ned, I stopped riding dirt bikes for the same reason, it hurts to fall down :-\
Well, I sold my bike. The new owner just rode it away. Now I'll have to flip people off out the window of my truck. It's much easier on a bike. ;D
I happen to know someone from this forum (a very handsome individual) that has an immaculate Street Glide for sale 8)

We rented the whole series of Have Gun Will Travel one time through Netflix. It was really great to watch all those old episodes. Those stories were some of the best. They'd still make good stories for TV today. I've often thought it would be fun to see someone remake that whole series.
You're right about these old series Westerns being good, I watched the Virginian all day Friday, and Have Gun Will Travel yesterday, and I really enjoyed them all, Gun Smoke is on all day today, I loved the way Richard Boone played his part, he always had an angle, and 8 ways of attack like he always said.I like all those old series. Every now and then we rent some of the old ones and watch them right through in order.
I think it would make a good series for today, like you said Will, and your right Dr. Bob Tom Selleck would play the part well.
Feathers, that is just plain mean >:( But, Forty Rod said he liked that in a man ;) ;D

Forty Rod, back in 2007 (I think) maybe 08.. naw it was late 07 until the end of January 08, I spent three months living at the Residence Inn in Ontario doing some work in relations to the fires. Wish I knew of you then I would have bought your lunch.

That's why grandpa had nine kids huh Ned..When the kid got distracted he would pop him one and say"keep your nose to the grind stone!" :D :D Boy i bet that one is late 1800s or very early 1900s
Very cool, and maybe I can tag a sharpening question in on this thread. ::)
A friend has a couple of 8" wheels that fit on a standard grinder, if you take the guards off, that are made out of paper I guess. You can find this contraption at www.paperwheel.com. He bought a grinder at Harbor Freight and turned it around so the wheel would come up at you.
He puts some sort of grit on one wheel and rouge on the other.
Any thoughts on this type of thing? Could it be used on a round knife? How about a swivel knife blade? Just curious.
Daniel,
Now don't go pc on us! ::) Were just short! ;D ;D ;D
I have a size 8 mellon, too. Where do you buy a hat?
I have a big Cherokee Indian friend, that has never found a hat of any style that fit him, I never realized hat company's only went so large, my friend had a head of hair like you would find on a Timber Wolf, but even when he got a crew cut, nothing would fit. ???

This was taken at the Western 3 Gun World shoot in Piru California in August 2009. Daniel's on the left, me in the middle, and one of WC's students on the right. His name escapes me, but he spoke very highly of WC as a teacher and friend, and the guy was a heck of a good shooter.
Looks like a motley crew and do ya ever notice how those cameras make us look bigger than we really are? ::)
Howdy JD
I drove out there a couple weeks ago after fishing up at Lake Piru. The road to get over the creek to he range has washed out. You can still walk but no cars can get over. A couple of trailers are stuck on the other side.
WC, did you catch anything?
Just call Daniel Steam Injun :D :D
Big ole plate full of pulled pork & pork loin with BBQ sauce, mixed vegies, BBQ baked beans & garlic bread.

Gremlins exist. They are not fictional.
I believe that the town was built for that movie. A little ways SE of Santa Fe.Where is it? I may have to plan a trip there. :D

A good sound man is a real gift. He's the most critical member of the band. It doesn't matter how good the band plays or sings, if it isn't mixed right you all lose.
You should have seen me talking my way onto the airplane on the way back to Portland from Phoenix right after they started letting people fly again. They were pulling nail clippers, and I was trying to get on the plane with horns that were definitely lethal weapons. Humor works!Similar thing happened to me. I was also carrying on a set of antique farrier's tongs. They had more of a problem with those than the horns. I ended up having to check the tongs and could carry on the very sharp horns. Go figure.

Howdy, pards. Marshall, sure looks like Yellowstone. I was there is '04 & '05, passing through on the way home from Sturgis. Going through there on a bike is way cool; we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. One day some buffalo were walking right down the center strip of the road. We shut the bikes down and sat there quietly while they walked single file past us close enough to pet them ( which we DID NOT do!)
I will admit I had the kick stand down and my right foot on the ground, ready to bail if I had to. 8)
I think the special rule is: Grizzlys Make The Rules!Yeah! I'd say you got that one right. :o

From his DVDs I know that Chuck likes to dip-dye his leather work. When you do a knife sheath with an insert of snake skin, like some of the work Chuck just posted, can this be dip-dyed or should the dye be brushed on to avoid contact with the insert?
Django,
Here is a link to the thread on this one.
I am hoping to get it to happen again, but havent tried it yet. One of these days.

;D Finally have the "Hoppy" inspired rig done. Its been a pleasant journey and learning experience. The Belt is lined as well as the holsters. All stiching is hand done. It has deer hide bullet loops that have been lined. The lining is 3/4 oz vegtan not stained. I did the lacing with white Kangaroo lace, which I highly recommend, it doesnt break and can be skived and joined together with glue. It's cost is just a bit more than other good lace. Its worth it for ease of lacing versus the frustation of lace that keeps breaking. Here are some pics......

Howdy JD,I think a basic router would do the job?
You did a great job on the mag holder. Looks very professional. Your friend did a great job of making the mold.
That is the way to "Wet Mold"... with a male & female mold. I have wet-molded a few items but using a male mold only. I wish I had the equipment to make decent female mold.
Many thanks for sharing this with us.

Pards, is it possible to get a western novel published nowadays or is the genre as dead as mutton?Amazon will allow you to self-publish through Createspace.com (their subsidiary). It costs nothing and printing is on demand only, no pre-printed books someone has to pay for. Your book will end up on the Amazon book list, available through Amazon.com. I did it for a dowsing manual I wrote and with a narrow market for that, it still sells enough to net a small royalty check eath month. OK, I give up....what's a HOG rig ???
Bob here is a method I've used before to "age" brass.
First remove any coating the buckle probably has to expose the raw brass and then apply Birchwood Casey brass black. It may take several coats to get even coverage.
It will appear quite black at that point. You can either just wear it and let the brass black come off naturally or use fine steel wool to buff the areas you want some shine to come through.
This will work till the brass has time to darken naturally.
Hope this helps.
Ned
Lot's of excellent work going on, keep it up fellas. My sentiments exactly!
Whare'd everbody go?? Oh there i am.. ;D
Id say rough "er" up some Santee,Good idea. I'll do that.
Howdy AC, sorry to hear about your recent bout with some cruddy stuff. I like the belt a lot. I notice you only have 4 holes on it. You must be one lean son of a gun!
Good work on the bags there AC.
About soaking your finished work in these dyes for a period of time; what does it do to any stamping on tooling you may do? It seems like having the leather wet for such a long time would have a detrimental affect on it
How does that work?
JD after doing your stamping/tooling/carving, let your leather dry before putting your leather project in the natural dye, if you do this, your stamping/tooling/carving will look the same after your natural submerged dyed leather has dried, I was worried about this too when I started using the natural dyes, but following the above method proved it didn't hurt a thing.
tEN wOLVES :D
Regarding Chuck's comments about casing leather in the home brewed dye, it seems that you have to leave in there quite a while to get the color you want, so I'm not sure how that would work. The bigger problem for me is appearing like I'm questioning Chuck's knowledge or skills, and what dummy would want to do that ???
Does this website ever fail to give good info??? HECK NO!You hit the nail on the head Santee.
I love elk tongue cooked, chilled in the fridge, and eaten cold with generic yellow mustard, a bit of salt, and fresh white bread.

Very nice work lately gents! It's based on the holster page 109 in Packing Iron with a a riveted first loop.

WWE come to MN. We have had 3 days of rain and now its in the teens and glare ice. You'll be glad to get back home. KT ;D ;)
Happy Thanksgiving, pards.
It's been nuts around here. Two computers tanking regularly. Trying to keep them going until the new ones arrive and get configured. One new one, (my wife's) is just about ready. The other one will be here early next week. That one will go easier since I'll just do the same to it as the first. I finally decided to try a Mac instead of a PC. Hopefully, there won't be any more virus issues.
I see a lot of good work and new posts happening. It'll take me a while to catch up.
Hope you all have a great holiday.
This new one seems to be running fine. I'll remember the warranty, though. OK, I'll be caught up on things soon.

I got to take the finished rig home last night. JD put an amazing amount of time and effort into figuring out all the things we wanted to accomplish. The end result was just spectacular and the rig is beautiful and comfortable. Thank you again JD.
Hope you don't mind the public compliments but you really deserve it. Awesome. Smiley

Man Dave! That one is sweet! Nice Whitetail crown too.
Perfect timing too because I need some motivation and seeing that makes me want to put my nose to the grindstone.
I'm finally getting caught up on gun leather and back on knives, ground three bowies yesterday, two damascus ones, but I got some hunter orders to fill before I will be able to finish them.
I've been wanting to make myself a Bowie for CAS, I have a copy of an original Bowie Buffalo Bill owned, my buddy Gil Hibben got it and let me have a copy. It's a 12 inch blade and I'm making mine from damascus along with some other miner changes ;D I know the originals weren't damascus but it's so cool looking ;D
You are right on there Cliff and that gallyator sure sets it off,man you have to come back to these things three or four times to take them all in..I don't know how someone gets enough confidence to cut and shape that kind of damasscuss!I shake just thinkin about it. :-\
Thanks guys.
Ten wolves, I dyed the rig with Feibings saddle tan oil dye and after dry rubbed some of the antique gel from Tandy on it until I got the color/aging I wanted. Finished in off with Bag Kote. I did a rig like this a while back and that's what everybody is wanting right now. Must be the flavor of the month :D I'm finishing another one the same color but he says it can be a little darker. Will see how it comes out.
I kept it pretty simple since that's what the customer wanted. I buffed the brass buckle to remove the clear coating so it should age for him over time.
Nicely done, Cliff. I like those jock-strap holsters and they just creep into our period. That era when the west was changing is real interesting in its own right. Skeet
10W, you should bottle that color and sell it. Great look to those holsters!I would buy it :)

We just received 21" of snow here in southeastern Wisconsin. The real sad thing about this is I can't get to to the ski hill until the roads get plowed. What a waste of good snow!
Heres a rig I,m making for my daughter. She wanted pink filgree and roses. Now this is bling. KT
Just finished this one for a Lady Shooter. It was immersed in Home Brewed Walnut Dye for three hours followed by four coats of Neet's Foot oil and three coats of Skidmore's Leather Cream.
I've gone seven days in my natural walnut dye, and once dry there wasn't any lose of stamp impressions, you have to let the leather dry. I also do not dye until my leather has dried from my tooling or stamping, I use/make my dye much stronger now, and can get great results in a matter of a few hours, you can vary the the tone and depth by the length of time you leave your leather in the dye, and also by the amount of coats of oil you use when doing your finishing, these are all variables that play into using natural dyes, check out our FAQ/HOW TO thread at the top of the board, once opened go to old time dyes, there you will find a lot of information on this subject. tEN wOLVES :D

Thanks for the kind words 10W !!! ;D I will definitly continue with this! It is great fun! ;D ;D ;D This is a 4" pocket holster I made a while ago.
Oh yea, its on blue mountiain :DYep !!!
That's the color I was hoping to get with my first batch, which didn't come anywhere close. Have you tried a 3 or 4 hour dunk yet? That should be something. Very nice.
This is my first lined holster. The lining turned out okay, with no wrinkling. But the holster was thicker than I'd had in mind. Which was dumb. I'd intended to rivet a loop on but the bucket was too rigid with the lining so I used Chicago screws which frankly look a bit cheesy. Anyway here it is...
(I've shown the skirt with the loop on temporarily though as I say I couldn't bend it through like that.)
Ed very nice work you do. Glad you joined the forum.Thank you WT .Glad you liked it! Best reg. Ed
TW That is a very nice holster. I really like the way the walnut dye comes out.
Welcome to the forum, Swifty, Ed. You both posted some good work, there. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts. Thanks Will ! ;D

Ten Wolves, it's ironic that you just made a Texas variant like that for an 1860 because I just did too and made the belt very much like yours. Great minds must think alike ;D The one I did is an order going to Sweden.

Very nice looking rigs, C100. They have a refeshing clean look. Good job.He has had 2 custom masks made with safety glasses built in.
BB, that sheath looks really good. I like the Mexican loop. It's a nice design. Yours is first class.
Lone Rider, that B-Western rig is very nice. The hair-on look is good. Well done. The other masked man should be happy with that.
You come up with the Bear Hide...I'll make ut ;D ::)

Marshall Will, I made a template out of heavy poster board for taper belts, but it’s only to mark the line; I still have to cut it free hand Is yours just to mark lines or can you use it as a cutting guide as well?I still cut it free hand but that little knife, or the one in the middle, will cut beautiful curves. I cut the curve then switch to the knife on the top, which is dynamite on straight lines and outside curves.
Thank you kindly for the positive comments gentlemen, I appreciate it, especially from fellas that do such quality work themselves.

Well guy's Here it is. The finished holster. Keep in mind this is my first leatherwork I have ever done.
Let me know what you think.... Thanks for all the inspiration in this thread.
That's a fine knife. A sheath with amber beads would look good with it. 8)

That is something alright, a real crowd pleaser for sure, and the ugliest holster I have ever seen to date, but cool at the same time, wear it proudly Rick, KT was thinking of you when he made it, and that alone says a lot, har har . ::) :o ;D :D ;D

you are the BLINGSTER, for sureYeah. Very cool. You going to make 'em for the other sheath? 8)
BB nice job but I definately would over lay the rivets. KT
I have a set of Bob Douglas's tools for setting rivets. With those you can make a dome shape on the rivet head and at the same time counter-sink the rivet. That keeps it clear of the gun metal.

Anybody with access to ENCORE Western channel, if you see the movie Red Sundown, my father wrote the novel it was based on. The movie came out in 1956. You can catch the credits in the beginning of the movie instead of the end and see my name "Lewis B Patten" as I am named after him. Also he wrote the book for "Death of a Gunfighter" which is also showing this month. Thanks for listening to my ramblings.....
AC ;D
That's a rambling to be proud of...I love, love, love the ENCORE western channel. As far as I am concerned, they could get rid of everything else and I'd be content 24/7. Once can never watch too much "Have Gun Will Travel" or be amazed by the brilliance of ol' Festus Hagen.
I'll have to watch the times for "Red Sundown". I seem to recall my father-in-law just talking about "Death of a Gunfighter" this past week....very neat indeed.

I had a GREAT day today. I had the privilege of getting to talk to my GOOD friends Johnny McCrae and Ten Wolves all in one day. At my age that's as GOOD as it gets. Pards cant thank you enough. It was fun and makes getting old a lot nicer. For any of you that know these two know it just don't get any better than that. Thank you both very much .Your friend Terry alias KT Smiley Smiley SmileyMany thanks for the kind words KT. I have had the pleasure and privilege of meeting KT and his lovely wife Pat many times. We always have a great time talking about everything. Viewing his workshop and collections of Leather and Knives is a special privilege. As I've said before, pictures do not do his work justice.
