Anyone have a ruby blade? I have a 1/4 " angle, it has lasted for over 37 yrs. now.

I hear that the ceramics dunt work too well.

Howdy
I have them but don't use them. The original ceramic blades Tandy came out with 20 some years ago were very good. Have them and still use them alot. The new ones are bad and take many hours of work to get them to almost work like the old ones.
Nothing works like a good quality steel blade that is sharpened right. (Bob Beard, Henley, Barry King.)

I'm taking a carving class Saturday and they suggest a steel blade, also the rubys end up missing.

Raskels.

I tend to agree with WC on the ceramic blades. I started out using the cheap basic 7 blade, then went to ceramic. I polished them out a bit, which helped a bunch. BUT, after going to a hollow ground BK or even the Al Stohlman hollowground Tandy blade, I rarely rarely use the ceramics anymore.

I saw a few ruby blades on Ebay last week. I think there were 3. They sold for 3.00 or so. Problem: they were chipped.

Thats the secrete Dalotn just dunt drop the ruby or the ceramic.
I'm getting a new hollow ground on Saturday before class. Were doing the carvin' practicing and I need a new blade.

Taking my Wll Ghromley pattern from the 49'ers it's just blade work, and Like my guns, I need both hands.

Totally agree about the steel rather than ceramic.  A good ole well sharpend steel any day.  My bad habit is, I have accumulated several different blades supposedly for special needs, but I end up using the same blade all the time for everything.

Wiley, my guess is that you use a 1/4" angle steel blade.

Ima retiring my Ruby Darlin'.after 37 yrs. no way of sharping it.

Cowboy, what kin I say, I use one holster type for Colt, Rugger and other clones, they seem to innerchange with out a problem

I made a Scofiels hoster and used my GWII to form it and it fit my Pards gun very well.

Single , double strap and the slim Jim all seem to be the same. Just the barrel length needs to be the same except the Josey Wales.

Am I all wet here or am I off kilter.?? ;D ::) :)

Remember the song by CCR... "Lookin' out my Back door"?

Here's "Lookin' out my Garage Door" and "Lookin' out my Side Door"

We got 10" last night. The skiing should be great today.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself
