Buddy of mine gave me a limited edition PE Bronze belt buckle, as a memento of his wedding I was in ...
He knew of my interest in 19th century , that was 35 odd  years ago... I wore that buckle for 25 years
I think I may had inadvertently, left the belt in Motel room in Springfield,  Ill. 10 or so years ago  :(

I happened to think about the buckle the other day when you posted the same photo's in another thread.
I did a internet search ...found out it would cost me $100 to replace it :o   ::)

Going to Stu's funeral I roughly followed the trails, The Nebraska City Ft Kearny roughly was along the same line as I-80 to Grand Island, then I crossed the Platte and followed the Mormon Trail to where we turned south at Ogallala.   After I got my pick-up at the rest stop I took US 30 aka The Lincoln Highway( also the Morman Trail and the original UP and the telly'graph)  to Dalton's house, then went back on I-80 to home.

We lived for 13 years in the other house we rented on a cattle trail for those steers driven to the UP instead of the KP in 72-74, not as well a known trial, had two branches, Teddy Blue went at least once up the west branch, I was on the east.  Can take you to where Teddy Blue's folks settled, I traced it down, a convent there now, about 5 miles from my house.

It is nice to know where we came from. We went bed after the Nachos were finished. I slept good until 0130, for a plumbing check. Now I am wide awake. I need a john Wayne western or war picture to get me back to sleep.

I'll start a pot ::)

43 and rain here. Looks like no mowing today, or weeding :o

I did manage to get the sewer plant mowed yesterday, even though the wind was pretty hard :-\

I slept in and missed out on the Cawffee. I am fixing me some toast a big, cold glass of Milk. It's better for me than all that Cawffee.

Samantha got her half of the birthday tuna this morning.  The carpet installers aren't due until early afternoon, which means the cats will suddenly disappear until supper time.

For tonight I’m preparing  stir-fry for our dinner, the cats are back to their dry cat food for their dinner.

I plan on taking Moose out to eat tonight. She has been testing students for the last three days. I know that she is tired from the long days and I thought that she would enjoy eating out instead of having to prepare food tonight.

I have a pot of Cawffee fixed as well. We missed out on the bad weather last night. We went to a fund raiser for some kids at GPISD. We had some good burgers and fries.

Well, the clouds started to perspire just as the carpet showed up.  Most places say “if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 min  and it will change”.  Around here it’s “if you don’t like the weather, move 5 miles and it will change”.  Was raining here, but the sun was shining on the hills both to the north and the south.

The carpet’s installed so now the entire house has been reshod.

The stir fry turned out quite good!   After simmering the meat for most of the day it was tender as could be.

I am finishing up my pot of Cawffee. I went back to sleep till 1000 hours. I found some banana-nut bread in the freezer, I thawed some out to have with my Cawffee. It is not too bad.

Good (90%) chance of rain tomorrow, event has been moved to the school, everyone will set up in the auditorium but me.  Gonna try to build a fire outside and cook under an awning.  Fire will have to be outside the awning.  If I can get it fired up I'm fine, goona take a bag of lump charcoal and coal oil, should be ok, if not the lesson of the day is when traveling if you couldn't build a fire you might go hungry.   ;D
