This kinda fits, mebbe not quite but it is the music thread.

Daddy was a cop
On the East Side of Chicago
Back in the USA
Back in the bad old days

In the heat of a summer night
In the land of the dollar bill
When the town of Chicago died
And they talk about it still

When a man named Al Capone
Tried to make that town his own
And he called his gang to war
Against the forces of the law

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night the people saw
Brother, what a fight the people saw
Yes, indeed

And the sound of the battle rang
Through the streets of the old East Side
'Til the last of the hoodlum gang
Had surrendered up or died

There was shouting in the street
And the sound of running feet
And I asked someone who said
'Bout a hundred cops are dead

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night the people saw
Brother, what a fight the people saw
Yes, indeed

Then there was no sound at all
But the clock up on the wall
Then the door burst open wide
And my daddy stepped inside
And he kissed my momma's face
Then brushed her tears away

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night the people saw
Brother, what a fight the people saw
Yes, indeed

The night Chicago died
The night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be

The night Chicago died
The night Chicago died

Ones I used ta chuckle at ya’d see from time ta time in bookin’. Deputy’d tell ‘em ta do sumthin’, take out an ear ring ‘n put it in the property tray, as an example, ‘n they’d refuse. Deputy might try ta explain easy or hard to ‘em, might not. But the ear ring came out.

Just the idea of em takin ma wedding ring off is enough ta keep me outta mischief.  And it ain't just cause I'm sentimental.

this one ole gal I had got out before,  always had a ring in her nose and a little chain ran around to a ring in her ear.  she got into a scuffle going to jail one night and something hung on the chain and ripped out both ends.

I always knew that thing looked dangerous.

Trust me OT, there are worse piercing/chain combos out there.  I will not go further than that.
People have become very very strange, an be sure ta tell Jackie she is very very lucky ta be out there.

Saw one of the guys with the ear/nose thing once an thought, "buddy, ya better hope ya never get in a real fight".  Then I kinda hoped he would.  But again, thas just me ::)  The guy was at a temp agency applying fer a corporate security job.  I guess McDonalds told him no.  He didn't wanna do construction.

Most employers don't want employees with those items in plain sight. Folks need to project a good image with their employer. They can wear that crap when they are away from work. I wouldn't hire anybody that came dressed that way for a job interview.

It's a big job just gettin' by with nine kids and a wife
I been a workin' man dang near all my life
I'll be working long as my two hands are fit to use
I'll drink my beer in a tavern,
Sing a little bit of these working man blues

I keep my nose on the grindstone, I work hard every day
Might get a little tired on the weekend, after I draw my pay
But I'll go back workin, come Monday morning I'm right back with the crew
I'll drink a little beer that evening,
Sing a little bit of these working man blues

Hey hey, the working man, the working man like me
I ain't never been on welfare, that's one place I won't be
Cause I'll be working long as my two hands are fit to use
I drink a little beer in a tavern
Sing a little bit of these working man blues

Sometimes I think about leaving, do a little bummin around
I wanna throw my bills out the window catch a train to another town
But I go back working I gotta buy my kids a brand new pair of shoes
Yeah drink a little beer in a tavern,
Cry a little bit of these working man blues

Hey hey, the working man, the working man like me
I ain't never been on welfare, that's one place I won't be
Cause I'll be working long as my two hands are fit to use
I drink a little beer in a tavern

I guess having a wife who loves Merle has payed off

Dunno ‘bout the appearance ‘n pokin’ holes things.

Back in the day, they make us take physicals ‘n get stitched up at Public Health if they were open when we needed treatment. We’d be bleedin’ all over everythin’ at 1300 ‘n stick it out ‘til 1700 ‘fore we decided we needed treatment so we could go to a real ER.

Anyways, we were real happy when the city doctor retired. They hired a new one. An Indian, as in India, female. First time I saw her I was in pickin’ up paperwork. She was wearin’ a robe, sandals, a sheer veil ‘n had a red dot or ruby or sumthin’ stuck to her forehead.

The diversity trainin’ thing didn’t sink in well at all with me. Racist, bigoted, sexist, whatever, she weren’t gonna werk on me. I’d quit first. Far as I knew she’d have me havin’ sex with a cow or somethin’ ta treat a busted finger..

ya know them red dots are just temporary when they are teenagers,  that way when they get married, the husband gets to scratch it off and see if he got a convience store or a motel  :o

Those Indian and Pakastanny folks have flooded the hotel and motel business, especially in smaller towns.

I associate motel offices where ya check in with the smell of curry.
It's perty much a standard anymore.  At least they're cheap when yer out on the road an just wanna lay yer head down.  If ya want more than the little two cup packet of coffee in the mornin, the trick is ta cage it off the maid while she's pushin her cart around.  Ask the manager fer some an it's usualy a no go.  Ferget about askin fer a late checkout.

Leo, you learn quick about the motels. That's another part of my job that I don't miss, the staying in motels and hotels.

Back in 2007 when I went to the Horsepistol, when my Doc was out of town, the horsepistol Doc was a guy from Inia or such, told him what was wrong and he was the first hospital doc that listened, he went off duty and in the mornin' I got a dumb arse white guy and ended up tellin' him to leave and not come back, lucky my Doc got back to town a bit later, the turd I fired was gonna kick me out.  My Doc got on the phone, got a good surgeon and we got the proble fixed, again.

But I must say I wasn't sure of him at first.
