Getting ready for the New Year’s Eve dinner.  Beef Wellington is on the menu for this evening. Just remembered to get the Puff Pastry out of the freezer and put it in the Frig, to start thawing.  The last time I did Beef Wellington I left my crusty stuff out on the counter and it got too gooey to try and cover the meat. We shall see if I have learned from past mistakes!

Down town Reno is having fireworks off the top if the Silver Legacy, but with the temps down to the teens I think we will watch the show on TV in front of a nice fire in the fireplace.  I know at least one of the cats will be curled up so close as to make me think about having one of the fire extinguishers nearby, just in case!

Well he had to out do me, Slim and I have the same -$ but the WC here is only -17. 

Got gift card for Texas Roadhouse for Christmas, used it last night, won't go back with out a gift card, no bad but sure not up to the hype.   

Slim it ain't half the place as Skeeter Barnes was just up the road, but all the people seemed to like less quality food in a noisy chain.

My pot of Cawffee is going fast this morning. I had some raisin bread toast with my Cawffee. We are supposed to get freezing rain and sleet, starting this afternoon.

They have snow and single digit temps in the Texas Panhandle. We are supposed to get freezing rain, turning to sleet this afternoon, through the weekend. It will be a good time to be inside, next to a roaring fireplace.

M2, them birds is a mess. If ya missed it, Female'd reach past NE3 to feed NE4. NE3'd get pissed 'n bite the female right on the throat, pullin' on 'er feathers 'n all. NE4 ain't gettin' all the food offered cuz she's too busy peckin' the hell outta the back of NE3's head while she's bitin' on Momma. Looked like sumthin' out a Three Stooges short. Gonna be an interestin' nest.

Managed ta get a couple keepers of HK early in the afternoon. Even got one against blue sky but the sun was wrong 'n the shot was of the back of his head. Kept it ennyways.

I saw the camera pan up the other day, and could see a Highway not all that far away, several cars busily zipping by.
I wonder if the passerby's know whats going on , in that pine ?

Cold as the proverbial well diggers behind here. Wind cuts something fierce

Got to the sewer plant this A.M. and noticed that it was too quiet opening the gate. Number one was off line, couldn't get it to restart,plus the manual valve we use to switch blowers was froze up. Had to call the Boss to check things out. Had to reset the master breaker, but still no joy. We decided to apply a bigger handle to the valve and carefully got it to close. Number two fired up then. Figured we had an electrical problem with number one, so called the shock jock. He got here this afternoon and found we had a burned set of windings in no. one's motor. Not a happy occurance. That motor was just redone in the spring. at least it's still under warranty

Didn't answer the basic question, M2, sorry. T'was a tern or a gull. She brought it inta the nest 'n commenced ta de-featherin' the thing. In the breeze it t'was reminiscent of a blizzard. She poked 'er head up 'n looked inta the camera, had 'er a red moustache.



Fowl is good for 'em. Above is the world famous HK, pictured here high above South Independence Blvd. Fed seagull regular when he was a wee eaglet.

Did the remainin' turkey leg 'n thigh along with the collards 'n snaps. Still got snaps. Still gotta gallon storage bag fulla collards in the freezer.

Gonna be creative with the black-eye intake for the new year tomorrow. They's gonna be part of the Ham 'n Bean Diversity Soup. In the l'il red one. Do most anythin' in the crock pots. Not ta include fryin'. They won't fry nothin' worth squat.
