I still use this phrase to tell my wife to pop open the trunk release, when she brings groceries.  Or any other time I’m going to haul stuff  out of the “boot.” ( for the UK folk.  I do still have my  4th MGB, so I have learned some of the terms to apply to it. I won’t go into the ones applying to the electrical system).

Two more come ta mind taday in the same thought.
"motor court" an screw in fuses.

In my late teens I lived in a old motor court that had been converted to 'partments.  Every garage had a fuse box that took the old screw ins.  I was workin with a guy on his old truck an the compressor popped one a them things.  I had heard that if ya didn't have a replacement fuse, screwin it back in with a penny behind it would do.
So I pulled a penny outta my pocket an said, "here Gene, I'll fix it".  He saw me go ta shove that penny in with my finger an said "no!!" jus a second too late :o
Got a good zap an wondered how a fella could learn a lesson yet be so dumb at the same time :P

PS
I ended up bein a electrican fer a while ;D

They've got our "Ol Sparky" in the Texas State Prison Museum in Huntsville, Texas.  The Museum is fairly new and I haven't got to visit it yet.
