Okay, got another Cimarron. My five Cimarron Uberti toggle link rifles (one is a '66) are in 5 different calibers, so this is the first time I got another in a same caliber. It is a .357. Last few years I'm shooting my circa '97 SRC with .38's lots more and I decided to get a spare. At least that is the rationale
Actually, the carbine has never let me down, but it will actually become the backup and this new one will be the go-to rifle. It is a lot stiffer out of the box than most new Ubertis I've handled even after I "adjusted" the springs which works great on my others. So this one is going to a pro for a super-slick action job and will be my "gamer gun"
. It will be the first time I've ever handed off a rifle to someone else for an action job. Skill aside, I'm at a point where I've got more money than time.
I decided on the 18" octagon checkered straight stock. Cimarron calls it a saddle rifle. They had only a few in stock for quite a while, so I was biding my time until they got a shipment in so I would have a better chance at good wood. So a couple months ago they got in a dozen, and one of my few remaining contacts at Cimarron went through them all to pick me the best one. Thanks, Chip!
