I'm learning more about flags than I ever thought I'd learn.  The split design we are considering is called a Guidon.  A Swallowtail is split, but is also tapered.

At the 6 flag purchase level, the additional cost per flag is $50.20, or a total of $157.20.  The regular double flag is $107.  Shipping to me would be around $12.00, plus shipping to the interested posses.

At this point I'm game for any option.  I just need the officers/senators/executive committee to tell me which flag is approved.  My personal favorite is the Guidon with the larger blue field.

If Roger pulls out, the cost per flag will increase by $30.00.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

All,
There is no official flag design!  The one I have and the original was conceived by the seamstress (ala Betsy Ross) it was her conception of what the NCOWS Judge (at the time) asked her to do.  When she was done, he said it looked good to him, and that was that.  I don't think it matters that much which way you do your posse versions of the flag.  The one that is going to be used at National events is the one I have with the smaller blue field.  But I would hate to see someone not get a flag if they want one because of the size of the blue field.  I still prefer the smaller field, but our posse will still buy one either way.

Okay.  Then it will be the large blue field double flag with liner.

May I hear from all 5 interested parties on whether it's a regular or a guidon?

Due to cost, if anyone objects to the guidon, then I think we should go with the regular.  But if all want the guidon, great.

Saluda Saddle Tramps votes for the guidon.

I figured everyone knew what Guidion was  :-\
It is or was a Mounted design , that reduced the tug and flap of a flag in motion on horse back .
Not usually as large as 3X5

The Split ( new to me name ) but the design has nautical roots.

A pennant is also nautical flown, by ships at sea or commemorative flag.

My personal choice

1st. 3x5 Rectangle with the large Blue field.

2nd. would be the Guidon 3x5 with the large blue field

The guidon style is attractive, but for me it is not $50 more attractive. 3x5 rectangle for me if that is what is decided on for a group buy. If the group goes guidon style, I think I'll pass.

I am in favor of the last example - swallow tail with the blue field ending at the bottom of the white stripe.

Yes. Proportions are much better. I'll buy one of these if that's how we're going.

Then it's settled.  It will be the 3' x 5' rectangular with large blue field, double sided with liner.  Each posse's cost, including tax, shipping to me, and then shipping to the posse, will be $124.49, plus or minus a dollar.  As soon as I have the funds, I can order.  If it's a bit less, I'll return the excess.

Please send me an email to confirm your participation at dlgraley@aol.com.    Thanks everyone.

Has anyone made an effort to contact a rep from each posse regarding purchasing one of these?

If we can get to 12, the flag price drops to $95.00 from $107.00.

No Major.  Please send a confirmation to dlgraley@aol.com so I have them all in the same place.

Perhaps the executive committee might wish to contact the other posses before the order goes in.  If they decide at a later date to purchase a flag, the cost would be much higher.

This is very smart.  There is no emergency to order these now.  I think the exec commitee needs to reach out to the posses and gauge interest.

Personally, I think every posse should own one.
