Hehehehe……

We don’t get them ‘glaze o’er’ days often. Was werkin’ fer NAPA doin’ locals one mornin’ when we did. Drove mine ta the store real careful. Had me a blast when I got in theirs.

I can remember when I was a kid, we had chains for every vehicle, dad even had a set to fit on the tractor, but he had used them for gettin through the mud before they graveled the main road.  hated driving on em, on ice it's ok, but when ya start hittin that dry pavement, ya gotta get em off.

Not many have chains here. Ain’t needed much.

Some Einstein in Purchasin’ figgered we needed ‘em for the patrol cars once. Reckon ‘e had money ta spend in some emergency account. We couldn’t put ‘em on, had ta go ta the garage. Time off the street.

Half of ‘em weren’t installed properly. Turned inta weed eaters ‘n tore up some quarter panels. ‘Course the fools it the tire shop were only semi-literate. The cops had ta go in ‘n type out the damage reports. More time off the streets. Then we lost the cars when the body shop had ‘em for repair.

Bought Alex cables with them barbed wire lookin’ things on ‘em when they moved ta King George. That’s what he wanted for Christmas. Subject come up not long ago. Said he’d used ‘em once.

A PIA but the best way I ever found to use chains was on that Baja bug, to small to get on an inflated tire.  Jack er up let the air out, put em on and fill it back up.  Never used tightners, have traveled 200 miles in a day huntin' with them, never lost them once.  Course if they got to the paved roads you had to stay on the back roads or find an open gas station to get them off.  Either that or a farmer with a compresser.  Much easier back then.

Yep, Them chains can reek havoc on them quarterpanels.  I've only used them a few times around here, but up in the Panhandle is a different story. Up there is like being in Nebraska, where it can really snow.

had a set of them through the wheel and around the tire for a 53 GMC pickup,  they were some kind of fiber material,  easiest to put on and off I ever had, but not quite as good as the chains.  but they'd sure get you where you were going

A lot of people put em on real sloppy round here.  Tighten em with bungee cords an leave extra links flyin free.  Dont wanna stop an get out when get below the snow line ta jerk em off.  Been woke up in the night several times hearin that jing jing jing jing jing noise from the steet outside ma window.  Them cable chains with the central twist tightener seem perty nice, just don look like they have much grip.

Them jingle bobs could get shot comin' in the wrong winder at the wrong time. Might be better to leave the jingle bobs at home. You can't do "stealth mode" with the jingle bobs.

I guess that I'm in the minority when it somes to divorces and ex-wives, I'm still on my first one, 35 years in March.
It's in the minority too. 17 years in July.

Watch a few Hoppy movies and you'll hear 'em go stealth.  ::)

I have chains on the TO-30 all year. I've used chains on my trucks a few times on ice.

Congrats. on your 17 years, Slim.  I would hate to think about starting over in another marriage. I'm too old and I don't think I could find another lady that would put up with me for very long.

Leo, Besides being a redhead, my wife has put up me and my BS all these years. I think I am still a work in progress.   Cops and ex-wives sorta go together. Now, that I am home more, we've been able to spend more time together, especially at night.

It's still not up to 32 yet, It's really a raw ol' day. We gotta get out and hit the grocery store to stock up for this week and through New Years. The fireplace feels good today, the dogs seem to like the extra warmth.
