a little Ray Wilie Hubbard for ya:

I come down from Oklahoma with a pistol in my boot
A pair of dice, a deck of cards and a bible in my suit
I come her as the cause of tears, I am a crying shame
Seven stud or eternal blood, just looking for a game

I double crossed the State of Texas and they give me a little time
I taught myself to doublecut the cards and hold scriptures in my mind
I learned to love the tumblin dice and to believe the word
Tombstones or rolling bones, beats anything I ever heard.

Patience is a virtue that I don't possess
And I can't deny that heavan lies beneath a cotton dress
How small a part of time we share 'till we hear the sound of wings
I'm lost in the dust of the chase that my life brings.

I have walked through God's green pastures and seen the rich blue skies
I have seen the fall of man and the kingdom hidden from his eyes
I have heard the roar of thunder and felt the lightening bolt
And when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I take along
Samuel Colt

Every night I kiss the cards and hold them to my breast
And when I see the king of hearts I know that I am blessed
And though my eyes are blind sometimes, I know there's something there
And when the times at hand and I kill a man, I say a little prayer.

I come down from Oklahoma with a pistol in my boot
A pair of dice, a deck of cards and a bible in my suit
How small a part of time we share 'till we hear the sound of wings
I'm lost in the dust of the chase that my life brings.

How small a part of time we share 'till we hear the sound of wings
Lost in the dust of the chase that my life brings.

A little MMM:

Hey daddy I've got a problem
Last night I took my girlfriend for a ride
And the way she touched my hand dad
Got this funny feeling deep inside

So I leaned over and I kissed her
Put my arms around her and then
Well she reached up and she slapped me
Said you're just like all the other men

Son you're talking to the wrong man
If you want to know what girls are all about
You're talking to the wrong man
I still ain't got your mama figured out

By the way son I've got a problem
I wonder could you talk with me awhile
See lately your mama she ignores me
Hardly ever gives me a little smile

So I was thinkin' maybe you could show me
The way you younger fellas comb your hair
Think I need to change my style son
Could you show me something really cool to wear

Dad you're talking to the wrong man
If you want to know what girls are all about
You're talking to the wrong man
Still ain't got my girlfriend figured out

So I guess we'll just go fishing
Maybe head out to that old golf course today
When our buddies ask us about women
I think I know exactly what we'll say

Boys you're talking to the wrong men
If you want to know what girls are all about
You're talking to the wrong men
Still ain't got them women figured out
Still ain't got them women figured out

Some Kris:

See him wasted on the sidewalk in his jacket and his jeans,
Wearin' yesterday's misfortunes like a smile
Once he had a future full of money, love, and dreams,
Which he spent like they was goin' outa style
And he keeps right on a'changin' for the better or the worse,
Searchin' for a shrine he's never found
Never knowin' if believin' is a blessin' or a curse,
Or if the goin' up was worth the comin' down

He's a poet, he's a picker
He's a prophet, he's a pusher
He's a pilgrim and a preacher, and a problem when he's stoned
He's a walkin' contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction,
Takin' ev'ry wrong direction on his lonely way back home.

He has tasted good and evil in your bedrooms and your bars,
And he's traded in tomorrow for today
Runnin' from his devils, Lord, and reachin' for the stars,
And losin' all he's loved along the way
But if this world keeps right on turnin' for the better or the worse,
And all he ever gets is older and around
From the rockin' of the cradle to the rollin' of the hearse,
The goin' up was worth the comin' down

He's a poet, he's a picker
He's a prophet, he's a pusher
He's a pilgrim and a preacher, and a problem when he's stoned
He's a walkin' contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction,
Takin' ev'ry wrong direction on his lonely way back home.
There's a lotta wrong directions on that lonely way back home.

One by Guy Clark:

He's a wino, tried and true.
Done about everything there is to do.
He worked on freighters, he worked in bars.
He worked on farms, 'n he worked on cars.

It was white port, that put that look in his eye
That grown men get when they need to cry
And he sat down on the curb to rest
And his head just fell down on his chest

He said "Every single day it gets
A little bit harder to handle and yet. . ."
And he lost the thread and his mind got cluttered
And the words just rolled off down in the gutter

Well he was elevator man in a cheap hotel
In exchange for the rent on a one room cell
He's old in years beyond his time
Thanks to the world, and the white Port wine

So he says "Son," he always called me son
He said, "Life for you has just begun"
And he told me a story that I heard before
How he fell in love with a Dallas whore

Well he could cut through the years to the very night
When it ended, in a whore house fight
And she turned his last proposal down
In favor of being a girl about town

Now it's been seventeen years right in line
And he ain't been straight none of the time
Too many days of fightin' the weather
And too many nights of not being together

So he died. . .

Well when they went through his personal affects
In among the stubs from the welfare checks
Was a crumblin' picture of a girl in a door
An address in Dallas, and nothin' more

The welfare people provided the priest
A couple from the mission down the street
Sang Amazing Grace, and no one cried
'Cept some woman in black, way off to the side

We all left and she was standing there
Black veil covering her silver hair
And 'ol One-Eyed John said her name was Alice
And she used to be a whore in Dallas

Let him roar, Lord let him roll
Bet he's gone to Dallas Rest his soul
Lord, let him roll, Lord let him roar
He always said that heaven
Was just a Dallas whore.

Send “My Wife Thinks You're Dead” Ringtone to Cell Phone

It's good to see you baby it's been a long long while
We're both a whole lot older and seen a lot of miles
But thing are different now since the good ol days
And youve been in some trouble
Since we went our separate ways
Well have to say hello maybe some other time instead
Cause youre wanted by the police
And my wife thinks youre dead.

Somebody spread the rumor that you had lost your life
Least thats the way I heard it and what I told my wife
Now here youre showing up again and talk is getting round
And I can see that one of us will have to leave this town
If you think that I want trouble
Than youre crazy in your head
Cause youre wanted by the police
And my wife thinks youre dead.

You never called or wrote me just up and disappeared
Nobody knew what happened
Where you been for all these years
Now troubles what youre lookin like
Cause troubles where you been
And I can see the kind of trouble you could get me in
You better pay attention to every word I said
Cause youre wanted by the police
And my wife thinks youre dead.

So goodbye to you baby Im glad weve got to talk
But Im faithful to my wife and I dont ever break the law
I dont know where youre headed for
But I know where you been
Were reminisced now lets just go our separate ways again
Go find another ex-sweetheart to hang around instead
Because youre wanted by the police
And my wife thinks youre dead.

An end with some Hoyt Axton:

Jeremiah was a bullfrog
He was a good friend of mine
I never understood a single word he said
But I helped him drink his wine
And he always had some mighty fine wine.

Singin' joy to the world, now
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me.

Everybody sing it: Joy to the world, now
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me.

If I were the King of the world
Tell you what I'd do
Throw away the cars and the bars and the wars
And make sweet love to you
Just make sweet love to you.

Singin' Joy to the world
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea.
Joy to you and me.

--- Instrumental ---

You know I love the ladies
Love to have their fun
I'm a high night flier and a rainbow rider
A straight-shootin' son of a gun.
Yeah, I'm a straight shootin' son of a gun.

Singin' joy to the world, now
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me.

Everybody sing it: Joy to the world, now
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me.

Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me.

Ah, yeah. It'll be all right...

what is? Bullfrog records

Here's a cover of one that chute'm ups

Cowboys to girls
I remember when I used to play shoot em up
(Shoot em up, bang, bang baby)
I remember when I chased the girls and beat em up
But I was young and didn't understand
But now I'm a grown up man
I know girls are made for kissing
Never knew what I was missing
Now my life is not the same
My whole world has been rearranged
I went from (cowboys to girls)
Oh yes I did
(Cowboys to girls)

I remember when I used to see you jumping rope
(Jumping rope up and down baby)
And I remember when you got your first baby coat
But you were young and didn't understand
Now you want me that I'm a man
And it's me that you're kissing
Ain't it fun reminiscing
Now our lives are not the same
Our whole world has been rearranged
You went from (Pretty dolls to boys)
Oh yes you did
And I went from (cowboys to girls)
Oh yes I did
Still it's me that you're kissing
Ain't it fun reminiscing
Cause our life is not the same
This whole world has been rearranged
I went for (cowboys to girls)
Oh yes I did
You went from (pretty dolls to boys)

Whoa, just jumped in the Wayback machine with Sherman an Peabody fer a second there.

Anyhow, great song :)
