Well, After I got home from work tonight, I spent a couple hours of quality time with my wife watching TV....... and making percussion caps!
It went very smooth and was quite tedious; Took me a couple hours to make a little over a hundred caps. Slow going, yes, But if I was concerned about speed I wouldn't be fiddling with black powder pistols!
I learned that you don't have to use a hammer with the Tap-O-Cap tool if you don't want to; I was able to squeaze the tool together in my hands to make the caps. Also, Using (3) charges per cap as the directions say makes for a very impressive report! (I tested one in the house and proceeded to get in a ton of trouble with the wife
). I tested another with (2) charges (and got in even more trouble with the wife) but couldn't tell any difference, so I loaded the caps with two charges each.
These home-made caps fit the original steel and aftermarket stainless nipples on all of my revolvers very well- Nice and tight! I would say that these are more like #10 size than #11.
Next thing that I need to do is a range report to test ignition!
