So, I wandered over to a local auction house, and lo and behold, I find an old Hammer double, all forelorn and ugly, with a formerly broken wrist that had been repaired by some horse shoe specialist. Argh!
So, I looked this fine old English double over, and she appears in good order excepting that ugly stock fix. Dirty, sure, a lotta crud and maybe 125 or so years have seen her through god knows what.
Well, she ain't gonna go on no fancy sellr's page fer no $3000 (a real good specimen of this gun might, but she's a plenty good CAS gun.
30 inch tubes, who knows what choke, the rib is marked "F Williams Fine Damascus Field Gun" and it has Birmingham proof marks for BP before 1902 (or so the auctioneer says based on his proof mark book)
Looks like a fine saloon keeper's gun to me
