NCOWS Chambers?????
« on: April 04, 2006, 06:01:04 PM »
Saw Ottawa Creek Bill's post about an "Aussie Coat Debate" having been moved somewhere he called the "NCOWS Chambers", and to check it out there ....

Well, I've checked everywhere I can think of and don't see any "NCOWS Chambers"!  What and where is it?

In my opinion, if a discussion is all ready heated, then it should be resolved here, in the public forum.  There is an elitist aspect to moving a thread once many posters have invested their time and interest.

Also, an official from the forum or organization should make the announcement and provide resolution to the issue.
Just my opinion, but for us great unwashed.. it don't look good.

Adios,

Thank you for being you.. Annie Lee!

Opinions, honestly stated becomes trolling?
The trolling was the announcement of the fight around the corner, but only the elite may pass..

This, like any other board, is about opinions.  I  will not stop presenting mine, if I feel them appropriate and I present them in a clear, reasonable fashion.

Adios,

Don't want anyone to stop presenting their opinion. Didn't realize I needed to put one of those "funny faces" for people to realize I was kidding. Didn't mean to offend, sorry.       jt

I have e-corresponded with Big Hext.  I was in his neighborhood last year when I did the Alamo Living History event.  I offered to deliver some of the Time-Life Old West volumes that he was missing.

He should re-join NCOWS so he can be elite.  He probably already is, and becoming an NCOWS member will just make it obvious.

There has recently been some other Texans on line expressing an interest in forming a posse.  If I remember correctly they were south of Dallas-Fort Worth and wouldn't be too far from Dripping Springs.  The more the merrier.

I would like to say that we as NCOWS members thank the Marshal for providing our Club with a forum section, in and amongst, the general topics on his board (CAS City).

I believe that all people are invited to post on any forum.  But when a topic becomes a personal debate between two or several NCOWS members, that discussion then should be taken to the side.  That side is, the NCOWS chamber, where only voting members should have the right to list statements or arguments for or against the topic.  These topics sometimes end up in a finalizing Club vote and general non-member opinions should not affect or influence the Club vote.

All are welcome to join NCOWS and share in the voting right of this Club as members.

We all have promised to abide by the rules set down by the Marshal.  And once again, as an NCOWS member, I thank him for his kindness in providing this group with a place to talk.

The way I see it, this is the Marshalls site, we're all just guests here.  NCOWS member or not.  If that's how the marshal see's fit to run this outfit, then it's good enough for me.

If we all had the foresight to see how some people were going to respond to a post, then we could post it in the private sector to begin with and avoid someone putting forth the effort to argue a point only to have the topic moved to an area where they can't view it.  Unfortunately we don't possess that ability so the current system will have to suffice.

Folks shouldn't misunderstand.
There are plenty of heated discussions in any outfit. NCOWS is no different. And I have seen many such debates started in the public forum and remain there.

But there is a difference between constructive debate and destructive debate. There's a difference between a lively discussion over legitimate topics, by posters with diverse opinions, that occasionally raise the passions of the participants on the one hand and bomb-throwing non- or ex- members whose primary interest seems to be doing their best to discredit the organization or launch personal attacks against other folks on the other. This kind of subversive, destructive and mean-spirited junk does not need to be in any open forum as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not a moderator and therefore have no say in this, but I guess my suggestion for anyone who doesn't want to see a thread moved to the members-only forum would be ... keep it civil, stick to the subject, avoid personal assaults and be respectful -- even when we disagree. I don't think anyone has any objections to those kinds of posts -- whether they are opinion or otherwise.

I am interested in NCOWS and a heated debate over dusters is not going to scare me away.  I make my own opinions.  Heck, if I let bickering scare me away from anything, I'd never leave the house. ::)

This next comment is going to inflame some folks.  My appogies in advance...

Are the secret chambers meant to hide the actual existence of the fabled "Stitch Police"?
