I also have a '51 and a '61 Navy I like them both they feel good in my hands. they shoot good. The '51 being a shorter barrel, is a little harder to load than the '61's  8" barrel and rod. However even though they weigh in over 4 pounds I love the Walker.

I agree with Seth, I like the streamline 1860/1861/ & 1862.  I've loved the look ever since I got that book THE FIGHTING HANDGUN, by a very youthful Jeff Cooper.(about 50 years ago!)  It had an 1860 on the cover.  I still have the book!  I have never seen a more graceful, but businesslike, design.

My most recent acquisitions are a Uberti 1862 Police, Engraved, and as it is too pretty, I jumped on a used 1862, with 4 1/2 bbl for a useing piece.

Just like Paladin I also like my 1851, as it does look 'just right", more utilitarian than racey.

I like them curvy ones, too.  But the others are bee-ootiful, too!

Walker 1847 because I have a complex and need to make up for..., not really  :D :P

Real reason is because it was the first magnum and I like shooting hogwart loads.

I've been shooting a pair of Pietta 1860's for a couple years, and I just got a pair of Uberti 1862 Police with 5 1/2 barrels. havent shot a match with them yet. I like the Army's, but I'd like to get a pair of navy'sI think I could shoot faster with the shortrt grip frame. I like to wrap my little finger under the end of the grip, like I did with the Blackhawk I've shot the last 35 years. Can't do thet with the army grip. But basically I like them all. I'd have them all too, if it wasn't for rent, taxes, food, and all that uther stuff that keeps eating up my gun money.

I like the 1860 Army because it's 44, it has a longer grip (big hand) and the curves.  I love the one in Steel Canvas with the gold eagle inlaid on the side of the barrel.
For Seth Hawkins, the Pietta made 1861 has an 8 inch barrel because they just use thier 1860 and make it a .36 cal. However, I have an ASM '61 and Uberti '61 that both have the correct 7.5 inch lenght.  But the Pietta is such a good pistol that I may have it cut to 7.5 someday.

I would definately go for the '51 London. The steel backstrap makes it more business-like to me.
One of these days, I'm going to own one of those. The .36 is a real powerhouse. Anyone here ever run one over a chronograph? They are screamers.

Be safe,
Dave

1860's

I have yet to see a more beautifully styled revolver

Second would be the 72 Open-top Army and the 51's

Sir Charles:
I have that old Cooper book, too. I borrowed it from a high school friend in 1965. Have to return it one of these days. Maybe if he shows up for the 50th year reunion in 2015. I've had my sights on a Uberti '51, but today I saw a Pietta 1860 at an attractive price and it's a fine piece. Maybe I'll get it and pick up a '51 later. With the price difference I can get a holster, flask, balls and a can or two of fff. Smoke and boom!
