That's a pretty cool holster. Thanks for posting it. It should be fairly easy to modify an existing pattern to be like that. It looks like it has some of that decorative piteado work.

From online: Piteado artisan technique is where the pita or fiber from the century plant is embroidered onto leather into decorative patterns. Popular in Mexico and Central America.

It could also be rawhide on the holster where it's light.

A square toe and skirt would really take on that look. You may be able to paint some kind of sealer on the parts to be light before dying the holster a darker color to get a similar two tone coloring. I'd make swivel knife cuts to outline those areas and bevel away from them.

I found this example of piteado decorative work on a similar holster. It looks to be a bit more decorative but the idea is similar. Note the herringbone lines on it.

I was not planning the squared off look, that is why I like your pattern.
I'd make it a straight drop like yours, rather than the cant.

The piteado decorative work is way beyond my skill level, but maybe some rawhide accents  :-\

If you make or buy a small simple squared meander stamp and run that around it, it would have a similar look to some piteado designs. Something like this one, maybe.

Been thinking about your rawhide idea. Any light lacing along all edges would be pretty nice. This one is solid stamping but it would look better without all that. A simple border at the most. No stamping would work well, too.

Looking good. That color will be outstanding when it dries thoroughly.

Anyway, it will dry today, I edge finish and add the two loops tomorrow

Moving right along, I see. It should be a fine holster when you're done. :D

There you go! The double strap does change the look, it's a nice option. Looks good.

Great job. Love the color. Is that all Skidmore's?

The final is Skidmore's but the finish is Fibbing's Antique Gel med brown rubbed in.

I was trying to tie-in with Cocobolo grips on both the Springfield and the new one I made for the Cimarron.

That color tie-in is right on. Good job, there.

I've used those antique finishes for dying many times in the past. They really work good.

IMHO you hit the color of the grips right on the money.
