Pietta Starr
« on: November 01, 2016, 06:08:13 PM »
Article in Guns of the old West, summer 2016, by Dennis Adler.About the Pietta Starr reproduction from Dixie Gun Works. In my novice opinion this is the best antiqued for authenticity pistol I have ever seen. They showed a picture of a original Starr and the Pietta Starr reproduction and I truly could not tell the different's.
My question is did Dennis receive the Starr from Dixie in this form or was the Starr sent to someone else for antiqued ?
I have bought so called antiqued old west guns before and have been very disappointed.
I am not a Starr fan, but could you see a Colt Walker looking this real. I would be a buyer.
Thank's for any information.

Good question.  You'll need to ask Dennis.

No, they don't come that way from Dixie.  The antiquing was done by Bob Millington.  I have its sister that was converted and looks just like it.  Bob Millington has since retired.  Hope that helps.

I'll be honest, I didn't even know Pietta was still making the Starr revolvers. If they are then that would be great. I've wanted a .44 Single action Starr.

...I've wanted a .44 Single action Starr.

They were a POS as were the originals. Trust me.
