*** NEW APPROACH *** Spencer Blanks Fighting Off the Duck Invasion

Hello SSS,

Last year my lawn was covered with ducks.  They pooped every where and tried to take over my property.  I was laid up with two bad knees and my wife would only "shoo" them off and they would quickly return to feed on my bird feeders.

Well, this year with my knees somewhat better, I decided to stop the duck invasion and  loaded my 1860 Spencer Carbine with Todd Koster's red blanks (Black Squirrel Arsenal & Armory).

When the first wave of twenty ducks flew in I was ready for them.  With a loud hoop and a holler I stumbled (remember I have two bad knees)towards them and fired away.  Boy, did they scatter.  They flew off way far away, and hopefully won't return again.  But if they do, I'll be ready for them with my trusty Spencer and Koster blanks.

By the way, the blanks loaded flawlessly!!!

Now be honest, you would have enjoyed shooting the blanks out of your Spencer even if the ducks were not there.  Come on now be honest!

There are some fancy restaurants that serve pressed duck.  Just get a copy of the menu and put it out on the lawn!    Maybe get a copy of the Marx Brothers' movie, "Duck Soup" and play it where the ducks can see it!

While the Spencer with blanks might do the job, what you really need is a punt gun!

instead of scaring them with maybe 40gr of powder, get one of these and load it with about a half pound-that should really scare them a LOOOOOOONNNNGGGG way off!

Well, as I expected, the ducks very quickly got used to the BANG, BANG, BANG of my Spencer blanks going off.  The ducks would fly to the waters edge, and within seconds came waddling back to my bird feeders.

What drives them off is the sight of me waving my arms and yelling at them . . . but I can't do that all day long, so I turned to an old friend, who stood in my US History classroom when I was teaching 8th grade US History.

I am not showing disrespect



as President Bush and President Reagan life size cut-out portraits stood with me in my classroom all year long. 

I have President Bush hanging from one of the feeder hooks, and he moves with the wind and the ducks, maybe think it's me
