Great idea Coffin!!! Otherwise I'll need to make a stack of these gates :-) Mike, the  side plate will be here priority mail tomorrow. I'm sure I'll have to make some adjustments but I think I'm where I need to be.

Question:  why did you mill a dovetail for a sight on the receiver for such a late model?  ???  I had an Uberti Henry once that had that milled (aftermarket of course) and it was impossible to use for eyes over age 40.

Many of the originals I looked at had had it done......I bought the rifle used in '95 and had it done then - when MY eyes were younger!

Its not so much of a problem, as I wear progressive glasses these days.

spring was polished again after hardening, and then tempered in my casting pot for two minutes - the melting temp of lead is 575F +/-....then blued, some more fitting........

still more fitting to go - but it works and clears everything. kinda stiff all around, but I'm sure it'll wear in nicely - brass does that. Off to get the barrel extension welded, then some draw filing to make everything pretty!

what fun this has been - !!!!!

Thanks Blair - its ready for the range. Still a little stiff, but works great. Next time, I'll think I'll try a .38 though.

Thanks everyone for the compliments......works great ! - functions the same as it did as a regular Henry. Next, I'm going to do some polishing here and there. and put some more touch up blue on the loading gate. I'll polish that to a nice shiny blue next time I take the gun down, and maybe even refinish the stock.

Oddly enough, now I'm coveting a steel frame Henry.....  ;D

The Steel frame will be a rare gun.
I wish I could find the guns to do the projects. Just no second hand well priced guns here at present.

I forgot to report on the secondary project goal.......I was hoping for 14+1 rds ; with the muzzle mods it'll only hold 13+1. That dang curlyQ spring takes up all the extra room when it stacks up!! Gonna have to look into different springs now I suppose  ::)

When you get board with it put it in the post, no problem importing it.
it does not matter that it only takes 13 as you can load it quicker.
