Thank you all for the kind words and offers for the memorial. We should plan to do this up "right", not only for Steve but also for all fallen warriors of the past whether it was in combat, due to combat or just plain old age. They deserve it!

Prayers sent for Stu and family.

I was really looking forward to meeting him some time at a future muster. :'(

You will, but hopefully just a more than planned, we will have the muster of all time in the future.

(Wonder what kind of firewood they have up there, remind me to see if Larry knows.)

Charles, I believe Stu was at the Muster you came to, it was also the first Muster for me. But he was shooting on the other squad, and since I didn't stay in the barracks, I never really got to know him until we started having the Musters on Jerry's farm.

OK, I must be thinking of someone else. 2011 was the first time I made it up to Jerry's also.

I like the hat and scarf.  That's exactly what I remember him wearing, especially the hat.

And usually a faded red shirt, and striped pants.

I had to swallow really hard several times when that picture played.

I wish my last official duty as Department of the Missouri commander could have been a happier occasion. On the other hand, I was glad to be there, especially when the GAF was mentioned several times and about half of the slide show was of GAF Musters.

For those of you who didn't know Stu, he was one of those genuinely nice unassuming guys who made everyone around him feel special. Those of us who shot with him knew he was really good. What I didn't realize until the funeral was that he had shot with Tex, Judge Roy Bean, and Evil Roy.

Stu was just the opposite of "Missing fast enough to win" He just walked through the course at his own pace, and usually won because he never missed!
