Quigley Sharps Reloading
« on: March 01, 2014, 05:07:42 AM »
Picked up everything to start the art of reloading for this beast.

Any suggestions on where I might be able to get several different bullet designs for working up a load! I really do not want to invest in a mold that does not provide optimum proficiency.

Thanks

I would suggest using a bullet that is .001 larger than your grove size  .459 usually for 45 caliber.  Swiss 1 1/2 usually works well
fill the case up  and then if you have a compression die  try adding more powder in 2 grain increments. We can tell you
what works good in our gun, but YOUR gun will tell you what works well in yours. I've dealt with buffalo arms, very good
people who will help you

Knowing the Max bore size (grove to grove) is a very good thing.
Also knowing the rate of twist will help with the weight of the bullet you may wish to use.
Just some thoughts on my part.

I reload for a Uberti Quigly Down Under in 45-70. It is an awesome rifle to shoot. I cast 385 & 500 gr bullets, and both shoot with great accuracy. Have shot 600yds with no apparent problems hitting what you can see. Have shot bear with it and rolled the bear up. They just have so much energy left even with long shots. I have been using Reloader7 for powder.
