Judge, to replace the tumbler or sear is pretty straight forward. Tools needed are screw drivers (or do you call them turn screws), a 5/32" pin punch, main spring vice, two pieces of metal about 3/4" thick and about two inches long or longer, a light hammer and a solid place to work. With the breech open use your good fitting screw driver to loosen the two screws holding the lock and give them a light tap to start moving the lock out then remove them and gently remove the lock. Inspect the sear and tumbler, if you're lucky there may be a bit of something lodged in the half cock notch that can be cleaned out. If not you should be able to see which piece needs replaced or both. If only the sear that can be replaced with out the use of the vice. Remove that screw and with some pressure install the replacement. If the tumbler remove the hammer screw with a good fitting screw driver then clamp the main spring while the lock is at full cock. Gently release the sear to allow the clamp to hold the main spring and work the spring out of the lock and tumbler strip. Remove the screws from the bridle then place the lock, face up on the two pieces of steel as close to the tumbler as possible so the tumbler can be tapped out of the hammer with the 5/32" punch placed in the hammer screw hole. Reassemble being sure not to try to pull the hammer on using the screw but tapping it onto the tumbler. Taking the lock out is easy and if you need it repaired by some one then sending the lock alone is cheaper anyway.
