Old Eynsford
« on: April 05, 2013, 04:20:44 PM »
This Old E is some intersesting stuff.
A few days ago testing shows that it will hurl a 530 gr bullet from a 28 in barrel 45-70 at 1220+ fps.
Today I loaded 32 grs in the 38 wcf bisley clone. 4.5 inch barrel, rcbs 180 gr bullet , chronograph 20 ft from the muzzle, 25 shots average 960 fps (the first 15 and the last ten of a 50 round session) Gun went all 50 rounds did not tie up, and is still ready to run.
Any of you guys interested in doing some "spearaminting" might do well to get ahold of Powder Inc and get some of this powder headed in your direction.

How was accuracy in the 45-70?  I intend to order some, just debating about whether to order a few pounds, or a full case.

Accuracy is good, but it's like when you change any other powder you may need to work your load a bit, but for the most part shouldn't be to bad.

 I use Bullshops NASA lube.

Just got this in response to inquiry made earlier today.

Dear Distributors,

I’m writing this to quell any rumor or concern regarding our new match grade sporting black powder, Olde Eynsford.

Olde Eynsford is authentic black powder. There are no special additives in Olde Eynsford and it is not a smokeless powder.

Hodgdon/Goex is committed to the success of Olde Eynsford.  After having received positive reports from award winning competition shooters, the tweaking is done. We can now concentrate on future production, making certain that Olde E is available to all who demand excellence.

Thank you for your continued support and patronage.
