Rifle Malfunction

Took the 1892 Carbine out yesterday for a little practice.  After about 30 rounds, the lever wouldn't retract all the way back in & the rifle is now (should I say it), jammed!  Any ideas on what the problem might be?  Thinkin' maybe I should send it back to the factory!

My old model 1892 (original) Winchester does this on occasion.  I have discovered that if I rechamber and cock it a little slower it doesn't jam as often.  Ease that round in the chamber as opposed to slamming it in there.

Before you factory that lead launcher.....take it to a  local gun shop and let their smith have a look at it.  There might be a little chunk of something caught in the action that's causing this?

After contemplating your problem for a while, it sounds like the pin that holds the lever to the bolt may have backed out enough to jam it up. Any good smith should be able to fix that, but in my experiances, I have met a few that thought they knew the '92s, but ended up that I knew more than they did.

Sounds like a trip to Nate Kiowa Jones is in order. I would recommend that anyway. He is the "MAN" when it comes to the '92s.

just a thought, But did you check to see if you might have had a squib load? if a bullet is stuck in the bore close to the chamber it wouldn't allow the next round to chamber fully and would possible "lock " it up

Once, I saw a round which didn't crimp fully push the slug back and the whole round went under the carrier.  That jams it up real good.  Easy fix is to pull the magazine plug and drain out all the ammo.

I had a brand new Marlin do that ....for whatever reason it jammed up tighter than a..... well, nevermind.  Anyways, that's what fixed it.
