I can remember when Abrecrombie & Fitch was a real outfitter, with guns, safari wear, camping gear, even Land Rovers and Jeeps.

Now they're just another mediocre yuppy clothing store.

4Trod,

If'n you were at Johnny Rockets, you were just around the corner from Williams Sonoma (right outside of May Co)

If you go there again, go to Lucilles and eat. On east end of the "mall". A bbq joint with awesome TriTip...and bisquits like mom made

We gotta Bass Pro Shop at our mall.  Only place worth going in except for Bed Bath and Beyond and the bookstore though.

Bass Pro Shop beats Wal-Mart hands down.

Have I told you how bad I hate Wal-Mart?

I saw Lucilles...on the way back from Johnny Rockets.  I may go out there again.  For a mall-type place it wasn't too bad before lunch.

Speaking of lunch....???

Where you been, Kid?  You must be getting hungry by now.  You haven't eaten in nearly an hour.

We gots a BBB at the big newwer mall that has the AF.  They seem a bit rude, you'd think they'd be thrilled to have a real cosie come in and shop, heck I left my gun in the trunk the couple times I was there.  The Q lady on "Good Eats" is down right polite compared to them, at least she waits on Alton Brown.

They also gots on a dem chail outdoor stores there also, don't remember the brand, not bad if you need sumthin' in an emergency, but I don't like payin' full retail and beyond for them to have fancy decore like the tree in the middle of the store.  And most of their gun people I've delt with are really to dumb to be allowed to handle guns.

Turner's ain't great...hell, they're just barely good...but they're what we have.  I haven't been to the one in Riverside in years, but it used to be the pick of the litter.  The one in Pomona or Chino isn't even worth the effort to find it.

Yep, sad but all too true, 'least their better than nothing (like Wally World, etc). This is a bit OT but are you familiar with a gunsmith shop here in Riverslide called Danforth's, if so what's your take on them?  FH

Best I can tell you about Danforth's is they have a very good rep.  Never had any work done there myself and don't personally know anyone who has.

I found that if you ask around a local cop shop or hangout that a lot of them have had custom work or repairs done by indy operators.  Be careful, though.  There are a lot of cops that don't know a gun from a broom.

Call the local station and ask to speak to the armorer.  Better yet, drop by.  Generally nice guys.

Rod, thaks for the tip; never considered the PD amourer. I picked up a Danforth flyer at Turners when I was asking where I might find out about South African gun laws (be glad you don't live there, at least as far as those laws are concerned) and since I was here anyway I thought I might try to glean some opinions.
