Div. of Iowa muster
« on: March 21, 2012, 06:02:25 PM »
To All, The Grand Army of the Frontier, Division of Iowa Muster will be held on Sunday, June 10th at the Goddard Cowboys range in Colfax. This will be a no miss match, all targets engaged until hit. Minimum round count is 38 rifle 35 pistol, double that and you should have plenty. A blade weapon will be required on one stage (bayonet, sabre, or knife). An NCOWS cowboy match is scheduled for Sat. June 9th and free dry camping is available at the range. There are also two motels within three miles of the range. Let me know if you have any questions. Al. Realized I hadnt given all needed info. Registration at 0900. Shooting starts at 1000. Al.

SHB, Yes I know this conflicts with the Ncows Nationals, unfortunately this is the weekend the range is available. Drydock, match fees are 15.00 for the muster and 15.00 for the Ncows match. Al.

I now know I cannot make either tha NCOWS national or the Iowa muster. My wife was a weekend long girl scout training and I have the kids. My son could be fine coming with but my 8 year old daughter would want to shoot everyone's guns and there would be no ammo left for the match.  ;)

So where's the problem? I'm sure if you warned everyone ahead of time, ther'd be enough ammo brought!

Best way I can think of to train then next generation on 2nd amendment supporters. 8) On the other hand I usually don't let the younguns ask if they can shoot mine...I ask them if they want to first. ;)

Drydock, glad to have you and Donny. No pre-registration needed. Hopalong, bring the youngsters and camp out, ammo is never a problem. Pitspitr, you're right, started the Gdaughter on my 49 pocket at 6, by 8 she could load it herself. Thanks all for the interest and comments. Al.

Well it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to make it. My striker gruaduates from National Guard Basic traing in Fort Jackson the week after the Dept. of MO muster so I'm going to need to save vacation time for the trip down there and for setting up the muster.

Well, how was the muster? We all await news.

I'll bet someone back east is going, "Now why don't he write?"

Still recovering from the wind burn, but I had a GREAT time.  Great folks, fun shooting, beautiful place to pitch a tent.  I'll let some of those I-owe-way folks give you the gist of it, but if you can go, go!
