I'm going to try to post some pics here of a couple of my muzzle loaders. I hope it works. They may not be the best pics.

Wolf: Nice battery! What caliber is your Spencer? I had one of the Armis in .56-50 and sure do miss it.

Hiya Oregon Bill,   My spencer is an original 56-56 converted to centerfire. The muzzle loaders are .54 and .45 .

Thanks Wolflobo. My wife is always amazed that a "grown man" would spend a rainy day putting beads on a leather bag or making a powder measure out of a an old piece of antler. I have had the same interests since I was knee high to horn toad. I have scoped modern shooters but they rarely come out of the cabinet. I have read that the Hatfield guns of St. Joe MO are not the best quality. I ordered mine in the early 1980's when there wasn't much choice and must of got a good one. It's pretty and shoots real nice.

Morning JTex,have you ever seen a brass piece that looks like a funnel is about 4 inches in diameter at the bell end?I found some kind of horn, not very long, but when ya blow on it it sort of makes a siren call sound,it may have has a longer mouthpiece but the sound mechanism is right at the end of this thing.I;m just wondering if it is a replica piece or some kind of old civil war time piece or later..Ever see anything like that?A friend of mine owns an antique store and she has it and i was thinkin on snaggin it..It is brass and a good patina..

GunClick, the only thing that comes to mind is a hound call. I once saw some folks that were running hounds for bears/lions and they used a brass horn type device to call to the hounds. Also I read a book about early settlers that used such a device for alerting folks. Not much but maybe you could post a pic. ???

well that sounds reasonable as it does make howling sort of sound, either that or is it a toy of some kind.

looks like the big one but old brass..And the gal that owns the store has it among old brass flasks, but she is a tricky old gal ;)

Man! I really like those Spencers.  Once I take care of the serious stuff, I'd really like to buy one myself.  Okay here is some of my stash. Euroarms m1855, custom plains rifle, 3 custom long rifles and a custom fowler plus a brace of navy sixes, pocket model and a couple more from a later era.
Guns don't kill people; fathers with pretty daughters do.

Okay, I'll add mine in (well, most of them) ...

My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...
