What's the best weight of leather to use for cowboy cuffs?

I decided it might be a nice break to make something other than holsters.  What is the best weight of leather or what is commonly used for "cowboy cuffs"?  Thanks.   :)

Bedbugbilly, I use 9-10 oz especially if they are going to be carved and tooled.
My monikor comes from my family's former ranch Santa Cruz Farms located outside Eloy, Arizona. The Santa Cruz river runs through the land.
