The main reason I shoot .32-20 is because when I got into this crazy sport I already had my old 1892 Winchester in .32-20.  That old lead launcher was shootable.  Thinking that if I went to a different caliber for my sixshooters...that would mean different ammo for each gun.  That didn't seem logical.  When I got ready to get my sixshooters I snooped around and found some in .32-20 and bought them.
Now all I gotta buy is .32-20's for my rifles and my sixshooters and 12 Ga for the scattergun.  Two types of ammo.

Now I know that .32-20 is a kind of wimpy caliber, but caliber doesn't win places on the score sheet.  Accuracy and speed do.  I can probably get to my coveted spot at the bottom of the barrel with a BB Gun, or a 12 pound Napoleon Cannon!  So I don't need all that caliber horsepower.  So you folks carry on with your hand/shoulder fired cannons.l  I'll use my wimpy little weapons and have just as much fun!

Now that I have my Colt Lightning up and running...I'm thinking I'll be shaving some overall time off my shooting.  That lead launcher is fast!

.45 Colt and 12-gauge (I know a 12-gauge is not a caliber--I just threw it in for extra credit)

Two Cimarron Model P revolvers, 7.5-inch barrels, .45 Colt.

Cimarron Model 1873 rifle, 24-inch barrel, .45 Colt.

Beretta GR-2 shotgun, 30-inch barrels, 12-gauge.
God bless,

All my shotgun "girls" are 16 ga.

My Warthog guns are in 44-40, stuffed full of the Holy Black and topped with a MAV Big Lube Boolit that I made meowndangself.

My "gamer" setup is a .45 Marlin rifle with the load backed off and topped with grits.  It still knocks over targets that were not intended to be knockdowns from time to time..... .38 for the pistols, again, full of BP and topped with a Snakebite that I made meowndangself.

All my rifles are Marlins and all my wheelguns are 1875 HA Remmies with 7 1/2 inch barrels.

Arapaho, nuttin' wrong with 32-20, it's a legitimate, historic BP caliber.

Would that .50 be in black or .50 as in Barrett?

Everything I shoot is in .45LC & the reason for this is....  Me Tarzan, big tough guy, not girly man & mean hombre to, plus... I like the way it almost tears one of my limbs off every time I shoot!

If you really want the feeling of a limb tearing off. Be sure to try a full house .44 Magnum load in one of those Extra light weight Smith & Wessons, .45Colt is a pussycat in comparison. ;D

You got it wrong ya know. Even the .44WCF kicks more than the .45 Colt.

I shoot too many calibers. I like to mix it up and shoot what ever when the mood hits. I know it holds me back from getting any better at stage times.
I like to shoot C&B a lot and that would be 44 or 45 cal balls depending on which irons. I shoot conversions too and they are 45 and I shoot cartridge with 38 spec brass.
It isn't a recoil thing with me, I shoot double duelist and am getting better at gunfighter, but I did start the game with 357 Cimmarons and shot the 38spec brass for economy. It was a good starting point, since I had the dies to reload with already.
Rifle I usually always shoot 38 spec with Snakebites. I always shoot a 12ga shotgun.
I do shoot only BP and I can get plenty of smoke from all my stuff.
I shag a lot of brass on my posses and I think the 38/357 from rifle would be by far the most popular caliber in my area from my observation. 12ga for shotgun. :)
Observation: I see more of the folks shooting 32/20 lately. I see less of the 44-40.

"357 or 358, Whatever it takes"  I heard a small town Police Chief say that seriously one day in answer to the same question.  Same guy said, "Let me see what I can do here with this 357 Magnet".  Don't think anyone else was on the line when was shootin' all day.

Scattered Thumbs, don't mean to argue with you, but I hunt local deer with a 45 Colt loaded to +P+ levels with a 300 grain hard lead bullet using a Freedom Arms Single Action. It's velocity is above that of a 44 Mag or 44-40, and it's foot pounds of engry is beyond that of those rounds as well. Of course, for squirrles I use a 260 grain hollow point because I want more speed for them.
