Which Colt was chambered for the 44 W & C Henry Flat?
« on: September 22, 2011, 07:25:16 PM »
Howdy,

I recently became aware of the 44 W & C (Winchester & Colt) Henry Flat cartridge.

I was wondering which Colt revolver was chambered for this cartridge?

Thank you for your help.

I've read several places where the SAA was so chambered but I've never seen one.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Perhaps it fit the '71-72 Opentop?

Not quite.  The open top was chambered in .44 rimfire but apparently the only ammo that fit was the Stetson designed version with a swaged bullet.  I believe there was a small run of SAA made for the .44 Henry, but I'm too tired to look it up tonight.

If I had lived then, I'd have felt well armed with a Henry Rifle and a Colt's SAA both in .44 Henry Flat. Maybe throw in a Remington Rolling Block in .50-70 for big game.  ;D
