The way you have set the lever latch, the 5" looks better.  If you moved the latch out toward the muzzle you couldn't tell the difference between the 5 and 5 1/2".

AH My Dear Paladin -

What to Do? Why, pack up all your worldly goods and relocate to New Mexico, Texas, Arizona ....

ah but wait I should have read your post first......

5 inches. Most definitely 5 inches.

I cut a pair of 1851's to 5 inches.

I am cutting some Remmies to 5 inches.

and I am cutting a spare 1860 barrel to 5 inches (I already did a "long snubnose" at 3 inches)

I guess my two most favorite barrel lengths in revolvers are 3" snubbies and 5" belt pistols.

I have always been amazed that the "standard" service length in cartridge guns  has become 4", and "standard" snubbies are ~ 2"
and I always felt that the 4.75" SAA was very nearly perfect ....
