" Houston, The Legend of Texas" ("Gone to Texas" ) w/ Sam Elliot...a film by my late friend Frank Dobbs

( if you note my avatar ... center, bearded and dirty Myself cast as Green B. Jameson " Alamo the Price of Freedom")

Major I think "Gone to Texas" was also excellent, more detail on the Sam Houston involvement, but also echoed in "the Alamo." Which seems to be played weekly now on the western channel...Hope some one is getting residuals $$$.  The production of the "Alamo" film and and special effects are outstanding, with a few really good lines in the script.

I haven't seen the latest version of the Alamo, but from what understand it mentions something that I very seldom hear people mention; It wasn't just a war between the gringos & the mexicans. I don't know if there were any at the Alamo (Spanish for Cottonwood as I understand) but the Texicans included Mexicans as well as Anglos!
In fact if my information is accurate, it was the Mexican contingent that really started things going. If not I'm open for correction.

Am I the only one that gets the chills every time they play that song ("The Men Of The Alamo" (?) by The Brothers Four) that ends the Duke's version? I also liked Richard Boone's coat in that one.
