Yep there he was right up there on that silver screen,
up there with the biggest ,western stars we had ever seen
 He held his own,he was a hand,and a hand as good as any.
he rode he roped and chose the mount for others and there were many.
 I remember as a buckaroo,when he was a hand for Spin and Marty
  then, when we had our birthdays,it was of course a cowboy party.
 Well we grew older and not much wiser,but he stayed along for the ride
then we settled in,and we noticed he hit his stride.
 Now how did that story go,that his daddy told.
when he was born that head of hair was far from bein gold,
His pa looked down at his babe,and thought what am i to do,
with eyes wide open in concentration and he thought it through and through.
 Wy them locks upon that  little noggin was a flamin red,
  a regular christian name won't do,was what his papa said..
As he glanced upon the land and the dusk came with an auburn glow,
 he looked upon the walls of his ranch and shouted BY GOD I KNOW!!
 That head of hair is as red as the clay of these walls upon our home,
   and that is what i'll call him and those locks upon his dome.
 Now from that day and to this day is how he is known,
  from the color of the adobe walls that  ranch had honestly shown
I cristen thee "Dobie",his papa exclaimed,with a bit of humor.
