timing a double barrels firing pins
« on: March 06, 2011, 03:21:20 PM »
I have a double barrel, its firing pins don't retract soon enough on opening, and are causing the gun to be hard opening after firing. What is the fix? Who around does this work?

Would be kind of useful to know what kind of gun you have.

upon watching the pins on opening, it appears that the cocking lugs need metal added to them, in order to retract the pins and start cocking the hammers sooner. the pins don't appear to be rebounding style. There may be springs under pins, to retract them once the hammer is started cocking. Any one try doing this, or had a smith do this for them.

added shims to cocking lugs, fires and opens with one small problem. Have to open a little extra to get the left barrel to cock. I need a tad thicker shim on left barrel. So now to find smith to weld build up lugs or do I try.

Whether you try it depends on how good a welder you are.  Remember, the prospects of finding replacement parts for an AYA are pretty low.
