Anyone out there know much about British cap & ball revolvers? I have a large single action transitional perc. revolver marked H. Holland, 9 King St.,Holborn London. It appears to be about .44 cal. with a 6" multi groove barrel. The mechanism is very interesting as the cylinder pulls away from the barrel when cocking and moves foward when firing to form a seal. It is marked patent 2081 VR on the spring loaded rammer. The revolver is very well made with dovetailed sights and is completely engraved right down to the screws and cap box. My questions are: Did many of these make it across the pond for the war or use on the frontier? A Rem. no. 10 cap fits loosely, is there a smaller size cap for these? Does anyone know a good web site that deals with English cap & ball revolvers? Thanks JW
