"Real Cowboys Shoot Duelist"
« on: December 23, 2010, 09:40:35 AM »
Looks like the Gamers are up in arms about an article in the SASS Chronicle bashing them!! I think SASS is a little too late & the horse is out of the barn, i.e., they'll have to kill the patient to save it!!  ;D :o ;)

SASS has been a Gamer Sport for some time now. The vast majority of shooters could care less about looking like a Cowboy, or any other Western character, much less using guns and ammo that might have been used back then.
SASS is a money making business not an historical organization trying to portray the way things really were.

I'm going to have to find a copy of the article and determine if the author was making a historical point or just poking the (SASS) bear with a stick.

That just reminds me why I rarely use the SASS wire.  What a ridiculous bunch of whining because someone has a different opinion on a topic and dares to express it!  Definitely not in the "spirit of the game".

Makes me really appreciate the folks on this forum.

Man I know that. I've never been talked down to or berated on any site like I was on the 'Wire'. Gave it up long ago.

I usually shoot Duelist but if it's cold and fingers are kinda numb, or my thumbs ache (touch of arthritis), or that front sight insists on jumping around a bit, then I'll support my hand.
That's one of the reasons I like Working Cowboy, or Range Detective. No hold stipulated.

I have found that, for me, I'm more consistently accurate shooting Duelist with a 7 1/2" barrel.

Howdy Pards ,
I was a $a$$ member for a long time my # 2452 . The sport started changing and was never the same fun loving sport . We were all about shooting and laughing and enjoying ourselves . I have shot with Tex and found HIM to be OK . And yes he enjoys shooting Duelist and shoots percussion revolvers a lot . The GAMERS have Destroyed sass shoots , closer faster and lighter loads . The term Cowboy loads ,now mean powder puff loads . Would you want to Defend your families life with those loads , I know they will say it's just a game ? Then bring back the 650 fps rule , that we all started with back in the 90's .
Keep NCOWS on the right track and don't let this happen to us . ROCK STEADY !!!

I gotta say, whatever they are selling, a lot of folks are buying. (more than NCOWS)
I've shot CAS/SASS since 1994. Still do, started NCOWS last year. Like them both, BUT SASS is still my go to game.
So cut 'em some slack, it's still a shooting game, same as NCOWS. NCOWS shooters try to belittle SASS and SASS shooters try to belittle NCOWS. Both need to tone it down,....... a lot.

Have Merry Christmas

I find very little  "belittling" of SASS on the NCOWS site.  As to the article in the CC. why are we even discussing it, it doesn't apply or affect NCOWS.

I don't think there's a very large percentage of "real cowboys" in either NCOWS or SASS! It's sure fun to PRETEND to be a cowboy! And if you're into puttin on a show more than being fast, shootin one-handed,(like the "real" hollywood cowboys), makin big BOOMS and alot of smoke, sure looks cooler than shootin two-handed slippen the hammer makin the targets say ping, ping ping.
It is far better to remain silent, and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt!
