Dirty Brass I would split the difference and go 23 inches at most~OK. Now my 22 inch rifle has been "Mag Na Ported" to keep the muzzle down and it sure does a great job on that end of the barrel.

I do have a couple of friends that had their barrels cut down and recrowned to 21 but the one fellow says he wished he would have gone the 22 or 23 route instead. Best of luck with your decision! I don't think 1-inch would make much difference but you will lose a bunch of knock down energy for every inch of muzzle you take off.....just something to think about. My .458 Win mag has a 22 inch barrel and it seems just right in the woods hunting those ferral hogs.
