new sharps rifle
« on: December 10, 2010, 09:20:51 PM »
well i forked out the hard earned money for a c.sharps bridgeport rifle today. i have struggled with myself for over a month now on what i wanted, and finally made the big decision.
i went with c sharps because they can deliever in 8 weeks. 6 weeks if they have the barrel in stock. i'm sure this will be the longest wait in my life, but it will be well worth the wait 8)

When I ordered my C Sharps a couple of years ago it was only 30 days from the day I ordered to the day it arrived, so maybe you'll get lucky and get yours fast also.

Right now I'm in the midst of a wait for a Shiloh... :P It's been a long 6 months with another or couple of them to go.. ;D

OK, so answer me this...If you get a Sharps a month after you order it, how the heck are you ever going to learn any patience?  My first Shiloh was 2 1/2 years, my second was two, and the current order is looking like 18 months or so.  Dang kids today....gotta have everything RIGHT NOW!!!!!   ;D

 ;D Ain't that the truth.
If it weren't for the odd ball cartridge I'm ordering in my Shiloh this time, I'ld be jumping on one of those on Gun Broker or one of the 3 they got listed at Wyoming Armory's web... :o :D

Funny thing tho I can remember way back when, when you could walk into Cache LaPuoudre Rifle Works in Ft. Collins and the north wall had a rack under the big ol Sharps Banner and you could take yer pick from about a dozen or more... 8)

That's the way to do it. That way you've always got a rifle to shoot, and have time to think about what all you want on the next one. ;D

Hech: I remember when there were no copies of Sharps and all you could buy were origionals. Kinda few and far between and not so terribly expensive.. I was so exited when the copies first started out of Farmingdale I think. I thought that these would be less expensive in time.   Don

I traded guns with Mike at Cache LaPoudre off and on for years when I lived out east.  I moved back to Texas in the late 80's, but still got by every year or so, I was really taken aback when I went in and asked where he was and got the reply he had gone on.  Even after he passed it was a neat shop, but it is all gone now.

The last time we were down there was apparently not to long before he passed on. Visited with him about his heart and all and he said his soninlaw etc would keep the shop going when he couldn't.
Went down there specifically to visit the shop,,,, couldn't find it, finally figured out it was some sort of yuppy icecream parlor now.... :P

I ordered my 1874 Hartford Sporting model 50-90 back in november recieved it last friday.  Regardless of what ive read of people on other forums bashing CSharps and its owner i had a great experience with them.  Friday is a non production day as of now for them and John showed me around and we had a very nice friendly conversation.  I aint figured out how picture posting works on here or id post a pic.  And i would go back to them for another.

I ordered a #1 from Shiloh in Nov from Bill Goodman.  He picked up the rifle last Friday.  With all the snow and ice I figure it will be here next week.

Ive put a globe sight on it since..  I chose not to get fancy wood I just wanted one that was fairly plain and chambered like something that would have came west in the the 1870s.

You need an acount on a photosharing sight like photobucket, flikr, etc. Then, get it from the camera to your PC, then upload to the photo site (from the photosite). Use right-click option while YOU are viewing the photo after uploading. Hover down with the mouse to "properties". Use the capture (copy) feature in windows...then paste the information into your message here on CAS-City. Hint: find the little "insert image" icon: and click on it first, then "paste" the info in-between the "img". Much harder to describe than do.

There is probably a "sticky" or help file somewhere on the board that is very detailed.

Awesome.
You can get properly headstamped brass for that at Jamison International.
