Western Movie Quotes
« on: May 02, 2004, 09:33:58 AM »
“No, a human rides a horse until it dies, then he goes on afoot. Comanch comes along and gets that horse up, rides him twenty more miles, then eats him.”

Name the movie, movie character, and actor.

The Searchers, Ethan Edwards, John Wayne. I think he was speaking the line to Harry (Dobey) Carey Jr.

How about " Thank you O Lord for what we are about to receive."

JD, that's ol' Mose from the same movie..

but I remember that quote distinctly from a L'Amour novel.. it may have been Apache instead of Comanch.. I may have to dig through that box of paperbacks.

J.D.'s Top Gun on the first one.  How about this?

“Yeah, that's it. Look Miss Dallas. You got no folks. Neither have I and well, maybe I'm takin' a lot for granted but I watched you with that baby, that other woman's baby. You looked, well...well I still got a ranch across the border. It's a nice place, a real nice place - trees and grass, water, there's a cabin half built. A man could live there and a woman. There you go.”

John Wayne in Stagecoach?? Can't remember the "ladies" name but he was a lady of the evening but she was tending a new born baby.

Hey Kid,

You've got the movie and the actor correct.  What was the name of the  movie character who spoke those words?

How about one of my favorite lines.  "Lord forgive me for the men I've killed and those I am about to kill"

'Tween Rawhide and "The Kid", they pretty much covered all the bases.  It was John Wayne as "Ringo Kid" in "Stagecoach".

Will,

I think the actual quote is:  "Lord forgive me for the men I have killed in anger and for those I'm about to".

Great movie, by the way.  Enjoy it every time I watch it.

Here's one more. " If I ever meet a waddie from Texas that hasn't drank water from a dirty hoof print, I'll buy him a Daniel Webster cigar."

Will,

Was that line spoken by Mr. Nightlinger in "The Cowboys" right as the bad guys are about to hang him?

A man who will keep his head and not get rattled under fire, like as not, he'll kill ya...It ain't so easy to shoot a man anyhow, especially if the son-of-a-_____ is shootin' back at you.”

That would be Gene Hackman as Little Bill Daggett talking to the dime novelist after he beat the crud out of thge "Duck" of Death and threw them both in jail in the movie "Unforgiven".
Well..........Bye!

"You're a helluva card player fella. I know, cause I'm a helluva card player. And I can't even spot how you're cheatin'."

Might have to put that one in the "too hard" category for a while.  How 'bout this one?

“When I get my share of the gold, twenty five hundred dollars worth, I'll tell you where four cases are. The others are waiting for me back at the wagon. If I don't show up pretty quick, they'll blow it...The quicker I get back, the quicker you get the next load...Up the arroyo about two miles, you'll find three cases of rifles and one case of ammunition hidden in the bush.”
