Howdy

Not trying to be "pissy" here but most all of those cartridge box labels were taken from my photobucket page.
Seems like some kind of statement saying so (since NCOWS is relisting them) would be in order...........???

As to "authenticity":

I changed some of them, edited others and spent countless hours cleaning up and occaisionally antiquing them.

Hoof, I have not seen your Photobucket site.

Majority of labels gathered 2006-2009 from many sources. In the article printed in The Shootist it was stated that there were multiple sources on the internet and I did not claim ownership. They weren't sent to our webmaster to include as a free shareware resource on our website until beginning of March, 2010.

Since that time one gentleman did call my attention to his authorship of three and credit was noted.
Several were copied from previous articles in The Shootist, and several were scanned from boxes I have in my collection.

I'll gladly ask our webmaster to give you a plug as another source, as you desire.

As stated in the article, they are intended for sharing so those interested can make use of them for personal use to enrich reenacting purposes, but not for commercial purposes.

As stated not trying to be pissy.......
I thank you for the credit!

As you can see this has been a free resource here on this forum as a sticky in the SCORRS since 10/31/2008 (you posted a reply to my thread here: http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,22999.0.html back in November of 2008). ??? ??? ??? ???
With a bit of detective work you will see that I have removed the "modified" labels from "public" status in the past when I started seeing them reposted other places on the web. I can see my photoshop work on many of the ones posted on your site, maybe they were gleaned by someone else and then reposted?

I have no problem sharing just think it's "funny" that others have used them in public ways without the proper credit due.

If any of your members are looking for a special label or something to suit their persona I am always at your disposal, they just need to contact me. I have, literally, hundreds.

Since ownership is in dispute, I've pulled the page from the site.

Please don't do that on my account! :o

I think that this is being taken wrong, or at least out of context. My only concern was that certain parties would start "complaining" about "doctored" or altered labels (heck maybe Itook that out of context). So by explaining that and taking the blame I figured that River City John should state that some of the images came from my photobucket.

I sure do think all of the confusion here would not have been if there was a "face to face" element that is so often lost with the typed word and lack of emotion on the internet.

As I posted above, I have many, MANY more images that your members are welcome to and RCJ could surely contact me (PM for my phone number) and I'll give him access to them for your website and your members enjoyment.

Regards, HH

Since ownership is in dispute, I've pulled the page from the site.

Hoof,
Dutch is our webmaster. If you would let him know which labels, specifically, are your altered ones then he will provide credit.

Plus, I thank you for your generous offer to freely share labels with our members. If you would send the .jpeg or .pdf of those so he could put them on our website, you will receive a byline.
The idea being NCOWS is constantly growing, and there are always new members (and non-members) who rediscover the site anew and will want to make use of labels for their own reenacting, too. We are trying to build a one-stop resource for these kind of public domain materials for sharing. Cartridge box labels, food labels, spirit labels, tobacco related, drug and medicine labels, etc. We encourage everyone to please contribute what you can for the enjoyment of all the members.

After I finish each subject article for publication in The Shootist, I send the corresponding digitized label images from samples in my collection to our webmaster to post on the site. Great way of tying our magazine and our website together and providing a useful resource.

As I stated above, I can provide you access to the "private" portion of that photobucket.

There are literally HUNDREDS of labels there and while I want to be accomodating I surely wish I had the time to copy all the files or extensions to send them to you. If I had that kind of time I would take my wife on the Honeymoon I promised her 10 years ago ::)

I have made a few of these boxes for myself and am very happy with them. We have a local Sass charity shoot for
St. Judes hospital and I was thinking of making a few boxes to donate to the saturday night auction, I realize these
were never meant to be sold so I wanted permission to do this. This shoot has been very succesful, last year we raised
over $45,000 and in the last ten years over $250,000. Please advise and thanks to everyone who has made these
available.

BTB,
I use to make these up and donate them as prizes at shoots.
I never made anything off of them myself, never intended to.
If you can raise monies, for a good cause... My blessings to you for your effort!
I can not speak for all the contributors to this subject, only my contributions.

You are welcome to use my photobucket. Shoot me a PM and I'll let you in!
I'm still not clear why they took the whole thing down on the NCOWs site ??? Seems like that was easier than just talking with me I guess..........

Hoof,
they were taken down because you claimed ownership.
And you were asked to indicate which ones were yours so proper assignation could be given or they could be edited out. Unwilling or unable to do so, it was considered best to remove them en bloc rather than leave NCOWS with any possible legal exposure.

I was merely pointing out where they came from and why some don't "appear" authentic.
Ya'll CHOSE to take them down.
Don't go blaming me ;)

I even went so far as to communicate directly with your web master telling him NOT to take them down.
Do you really think I should take my time and go through both sets of images AFTER I gave you permission to use them?
Hard to have a legal problem with someon not wishing harm, JEEZ take a chill pill.

AND YES you are still welcome to them.

I, for one am tired of all the bickering going on on this site!

Hey all.  Found a nice man who makes terrific replica shotshell boxes for those who do not wish to make their own.  See them here:
