Looks like one of the Solingen bowies with that marking that were common in the 50s and 60s. Does it have any maker marks?

Howdy!
That's a fine looking knife, and I suspect pretty 1870s-1880s correct, despite its more recent origin.  (I've seen those German knives occasionally on Ebay, going pretty inexpensively.)

Nope, believe they be real. Its a pretty old believe it is jigged bone..and found some lettering on the thing. Has some pitting so can't make out first part, but it does say Sollengien, made in Germany,,

It took a magnifing glass to find that.

anyways, I found it years ago and have had it hangin in the office for all the time I had it.

I like that style of Bowie knife.  When I was getting started with my knifemaking addiction I would buy just the blades from Texas Knifemaker Supply and put handles and guards on them.  I was in the Army and making knives in the barracks was iffy to say the least.  I was fortunate to have a First SGT who also was a knife nut and I sorta became the Company Cutler.  I think I made about 20 of those Solingen style Bowies!
