Lack of cases
« on: October 15, 2009, 12:57:16 PM »
Hi guy's, does anyone know of the cause of a shortage of 45-60 cases?
Secondly, do any of you know if manufacturers/dealers have been banned from shipping components (cases) to Britain?

I know that our combined operations in the Middle East are causing certain shortages but I would not have thought that calibres such as these would be affected.

Thanks in advance for any help, AE.

I thought Chapparal was a European company.  They have a UK dealer.  See the first link.

The second link shows nice pictures, but maybe you should email the dealer.

Can you not alter .45-70 cases?  The rims will be .070 thick, where WRA CA cases will be .062 thick.

Jamison International is where I got my 45-60 brass.  Their website says they ship international.

I think the brass is well made and have already reloaded some 3 times with no problems.

United States suppliers are unable to ship brass outside the borders unless the purchaser has an individual import/export license.

I ran into this about 3 weeks ago when Buffalo Arms , who has supplied my Starline for years , informed me that they could no longer ship  outside the continental US.
Not sure how long this will be in effect.
Sure makes it difficult to order ..if not impossible.

I have contacted several of the other major dealers and was informed of the same thing.

You can apply and get the proper documents , takes about 2 months , if successful and costs about $250.00 US.
Hope this helps.

I'm hoping the local suppliers can fill their back orders . There are items starting to reappear , powder is still at a premium . What we are hearing from them is late fall. Considering we are almost into winter I think the pipe is still a bit clogged!.
Good luck with your local dealers , it was nice to be able to deal direct but that appears to be a thing of the past. Hope for the best.
