Old Vaquero 44-40
« on: August 02, 2009, 08:42:56 PM »
I have an omv  in 44-40, its an NRA model with a 6.5" barrel, i guess only 500 or 550 were made, what would this be worth?  I got this and a Puma 92 in 44-40, did a Steve Jones action job on the 92, got 2500 200gr LRNFP bullets, and shot them a few times now they sit. Thinking possably of selling it all, started shooting trap last summer and really got hooked, i am shooting in two clubs, and not shooting anything else, even my blackpowder club i shoot in has not seen me in 6 mo. Always wanted to get into cowboy action shooting, but nearest club is like 80 mi. away, still like reading about it and watching it on TV though.

A NRA Ruger 44-40 Vaquero sold on GunBroker last month for $525. There are two listed on GunBroker now, one for $525 and one for $600. Neither have bids on them.

Howdy!
Collectors are pretty pickey and a shot NRA model isn't going to draw much attention (as seen recently on the Ruger forum).  I've seen them on GB as well recently and the lowest were priced in the the upper 400's w/o any action.  You might want to tuck it back in the safe and wait till the economy comes back a bit...
