case filler
« on: March 24, 2005, 07:45:59 PM »
Got some fine walnut polishing media.
Could I use this as a case filler for .45 with smokeless powder?
What about corn meal?
Do you fill to the top of the case and compress?

What kind of load are you shooting ??  I don't think fillers are typically approved for smokeless revolver loads.  Be careful - Read the loading books...

I think I'm gonna go without fillers!

You can use fillers.  DO NOT FILL THE CASE AND COMPRESS.  That would increase your pressure deafeating the whole purpose of shoot ing the light loads,  or blow up yer irons.

Grits is my filler, but only for blackpowder loads shot in C&B revolvers. And no, you don't cook it first.
