I agree with George, Bill & Mike.   At the National matches in Ackley Iowa we nearly always had some sort of 22 rifle side match.  It was always required that the guns be of the period, either original or replica.  To allow non period guns is a step backwards and I can see no good reason to make this exception.  We will have plenty of correct guns to shoot.  Heck I haven't even sighted mine in yet ;D  I would suggest anyone who would like to shoot the match and needs to borrow a rifle bring some 22 ammo with them.

I tend to agree with the nay sayers here.  I originally posted my question about my Marlin 39A, Winchester 9422 XTR and Henry Yellow Boy .22's because IMO none of them met our standards.  Both the Marlin and Winchester have ramp front sights and the Marlin has white line spacers in the grip cap and butt plate.  Neither of these IMO look very pre 1900.  While the Henry does at least look period, it never exiisted in our time period.  So I planned on not bringing any of them as they were outside the scope of our endeavor.

LG, I appreciate your clarification of where in the Tally Book one can find the various language that addresses this issue.  Based on the actions and comments discussed and presented here, it would appear that there might be a need for the NCOWS position on .22's both sidematch and main match to be easier to find in the Tally Book.

See y'all at the National!

Thank You LG, for straightening out those that think they can bend or make rules for the few, without repercussions...It just shows we need to stay vigilant and I'm sorry for being such and A hole about this, but right is right.
