WTB/T Large loop lever for Puma 1892 Found one.
« on: January 27, 2009, 04:50:48 PM »
Pards, I'm looking for a large loop lever for a Puma (Rossi) carbine with blued finish. I know it won't speed me up, it's just a wild hair I have going. If you have one let me know how much you want for it. I can also trade loading strips or shotshell slide made by me.

Legacy didn't have them any more.  They are getting ready to go Italian.

In 2009 Legacy will change the company , Rossi, to one from Italy.  They have info about the change on their website.  The prices will go up by a lot.  That's why I got the Trapper now, since it really has little use for CAS. I guess JW made me do it.

Glad I got my difinative JW movie rifle, antiqued, distressed, and right cal. 44wcf  One of my favorites.  Whenever I pick it up, I find it hard to put down.  I just want to caress it like a woman.  It's HOT!

When I was a young pup watching all those JW movies on the big silver screen, I never imagined I'd ever have a rifle like that.   Yep, I'm not a gamer.  Maybe we ought to start a JW movie rifle thread showing off what we got.

OK.  Here's my Rossi.  My difinative John Wayne movie rifle.  This large loop resembles JW's from the movie 'Stagecoach'.  His large loop levers in his later movies were a little bit more oblong.

I did the metal strickly using 400, 600, and 800 grit wet-dry.  You can speed up the process a little by starting out with a little bit corser grit of sand paper.  Can't remember exactly what I started out with, but you get the picture.  No need for liquid or paste blue remover using that method.  I had Steve Young install the saddle ring and the large loop when I took it to him for an action job.  He also soldered the from sight post in back of the front barrel band at my request.

If you look close you can see that I added a little more radius on the bottom corners of the receiver as per an original.  Also the top comb was reworked to match an original 92 that I have.  It's the little details that matter when doing a project like this.   I love this rifle.  She's a tack driver.

Anyone else?  Lets see them.

This is an EMF 92 cut to 16.25" by Nate Kiowa Jones, who added the loop lever and tuned it to within an inch of its life!  Smoothest 92 I have ever handled.  It's a .45 Colt, and, with heavy 325gr loads, it will match 45-60 ballistics, and beat the snot out of you doing it!   :P  ;D
