97 ejector
« on: September 14, 2008, 06:01:31 PM »
My 97 had a glitch today, with the ejector. Every now and then the shell failed to eject. Of course I did not realise this til I was triing to close battery. The shell was fully extracted just laying in the ejection port. The fired one that is. One of the other shooters that knows these guns looked at it and did not see anything wrong. This happened 3 maybe 4 times out of 20 shots.
So what are your thoughts.

Sounds like the extractors are not holding the shell long enough for it to get to the ejector.  Check the extractors to make sure they are working correctly, especially the one on the left side.  The right side uses a coil spring and plunger to power the extractor and is pretty reliable.  However, the left side uses a one piece extractor, the rear half of which is a leaf spring.  If that spring breaks or looses tension you will have ejection problems.

I'll take a look to see. Unless it is broke I don't know if I can tell.

Most of the time I see broken ejector springs. This is a very small spring held in with a screw on the left side. It can be changed without taking the gun apart.
