Pietta 1863 Pocket Pistol
« on: September 02, 2008, 06:29:07 PM »
I am now looking around at these. I have noticed some with trigger gards and some with open triggers. Which do you prefer and where is a good place to purchase one?

Also saw the other thread about the conversion cylinder. If and when you can find one, are they 6 shot or just 5? I'd like one but the 5 shot puts a damper on CAS shooting if'n ya have to have an empty chamber.

Just for information, all of the Remington pockets aren't as well built as the full size model.  Half of them don't work out of the box and even if they work they usually feel like the action is full of rocks.  Very light duty and not made to shoot all that much.  Interesting toy, but that's about it.

Howdy Pard,

Pocket Pistols can not be used as main match guns at SASS matches and side matches normally only shoot 4 rounds.

• A pocket pistol is a small frame, fixed sight, pre-1900 design revolver having a barrel length of four inches or less. Pocket pistols must be .31 caliber or larger. Model “P” Colts and clones and revolvers with swing out cylinders are specifically not allowed regardless of caliber, frame size, or barrel length. Pocket pistols may not be used as or converted to main match revolvers.

Thanks Missouri Marshal

I thought I saw it in there once but then all I saw was the .31 cal requirement.

Too bad, I'd like to have one but certainly can not justify it if I can't use it as a main match........heck its been three months since I shot my last match anyway!
