shooting tip
« on: July 02, 2008, 05:31:26 PM »
This past weekend at the NCOWS buffalo shoot I found a practice technique that really worked for me.
I arrived a day early and put in a Crosno 22 liner in my Sharps, a friend spotted for me and I sighted it in on a swinger silhouette chicken. I was surprised how well it shot, laying prone on cross sticks I could really concentrate on good form-- trigger pull, breathing, etc., and with no recoil you can really hold rock solid. Then on Sat. and Sun. when the liner came out and the 45/90 ammo went in
I feel like I shot the best in my life, 85 rounds and I don't believe I had a single bad pull. The buffs were falling like like you dream
about!!!

 :)Howdy,
A friend of mine bought one for his Hi Wall, but havn't got to talk to him any on how he liked it! I saw them some where for sale, but I don't remember where. Have you use one since then, is the stuff you wrap around the barrel that swells is it reuaseable or do you have to buy new everytime? If anyone reads this, if you know where I can check them out, please let me know!
thanks

There isn't any stuff you wrap around the barrel.  The liner is permanently affixed to the rubber like spacer.  You lube it well with something like Bore Butter (that's what I use) and slide it in with the ejector notch positioned near 12:00.  Mine shoots very well out to 200 yards ( I haven't tried it further)  The chambers are tight and some ammunition doesn't seat easily.  I made push rod, kind of like a muzzle loading short starter and it helps to seat the round.

Will where did you buy yours from?  Doesn't  sound like it could hurt your barrel any! Now I just need to sell more stuff!
Thank you for the info!

Buffalo Arms has them.  You could google Dave Crossno and probably buy them directly from him.
