Wanted-- Rolling block set triggers (double or single)
« on: April 09, 2008, 09:21:35 PM »
I have a rolling block action from a Swedish shotgun that I have rebuit from just the action.

It is now barreled with a 34" Badger barrel and brand new woodwork.

In the search for parts I am looking for a set trigger for it

single or double but the former would be preferable.

Can any one help me with a place to go to find such.

I'd saunter over to Dave Higginbotham's place, Lone Star Rifle (which I think has that same name and a dot com added) and take a look around.

I'll bet he could fix you right up. ;)

I asked a similar question at Pedersoli.  They felt the tolerances were too uncertain for their set trigger.

Dave may require that you send him the lower tang complete with its parts for him to work from.  He makes the complete action, so drop him a line and see what he suggests.  Pedersoli's action/firearm differs in some dimensions from the Remington.  The Swedish does not differ in the critical measurements that I am aware of.

I e-mailed Dave as suggested and had a reply from him very promptly.

His response has impressed me greatly and I am taking the liberty of copying the relevant parts of the e-mail to this thread.

"Our single set trigger castings can be fitted to the military receiver but it takes considerable work.

There is some tricky milling that has to be done inside the trigger guard, the hammer has to be slotted and drilled and a fly installed, the rear frame screw has to be replaced with a screw from each side, therefore, the side that is threaded has to be drilled and counter-bored, and finally, the holes in the trigger guard have to be tapped for the screws."

I now have to find a competant gunsmith here in NZ who will undertake this work for me.

If I am sucessful I will be ordering a set from him.

Sir Charles de MoutonNoir, this may be of use to you in your quest

Dai;   I just ordered a Green Mountain barrel for my Argie.  GMR have an export permit, and Badger doesn't (each barrel has to be processed individually - more time!)   I had puzzled over how to get a barrel for awhile until Green Mountain referred me to a dealer/gunsmith in Delta BC.  Now we are in business!

It will be too expensive to install a set trigger unless you do it yourself.  I can't.

BTW the problem is the US.  Canada doesn't care if I bring in a barrel.  Just try to get it out of the US without a permit!
