For those of you that have a Sharps rifle with a patchbox in the stock, I have a question!

What do you keep in the patchbox?

No, really,.... most Sharps shown with patch boxes in Frank Sellers' book are percussion rifles.  Spare nipples and maybe caps were placed in the patch box.  Maybe even cleaning patches.  Few cartridge Sharps had the patch box even though they needed cleaning patches.

Cleaning patches. Black powder has a lot of fouling. After a few shots it's time to clean 'er out. Percussion or cartridge, they were all BP rifles.
